Re: What makes you read blogs?

it depends on your audience
If your audience are soccer fans, of course you are in the right path
But if your audience are general, I think green niche topic blogs would be better to drive in traffic

A good layout, good information which is different and unique and plenty of good quality pictures is what makes me read a blog.

Oh, this is so true. I hate overly long, pretentious, articles. Don't wax philosophical for days, just get to the point, lol. Well, that's how I feel about most general information topics anyway.

With important topics, I like a good deal of information, but it also needs to be presented in a way that is engaging.

I prefer they don't try to lead me along for an entire page before getting to the good stuff.

Yes, same here. I don't want to be sat thinking, get to the point already LOL Plus, I like for them to be well written. This is not to say university essay standard, though, because I find too clinically crafted posts too boring for words. I much prefer conversational and laid back.

When they try to do that, I just skip ahead or leave altogether. I don't have time for all the extraneous stuff.

Yes, I want it to be clear and easy to read and understand. If you must use jargon, explain it in layman's terms.

I don't like when it feels cold, sterile. I much prefer the conversational tone, and a relaxed, but intelligent article.

The use of grammar also make me read articles. I enjoy articles with average to higher vocabularies. I get easily turned off when an article is poorly written or watery. In addition and very importantly every word should ne correctly spelt out.

I read blogs if the title/heading appears to have the potential to help me solve a nagging question.

I mostly read the blogs if it resonates with what I want to do. Mostly the blogs on tech, minimalism and few other interesting topics are in my radar. Otherwise I try to avoid drama topics in blogs.

I don't really get too worked up over a mistake or two. I don't demand perfection, but I do like content that I can understand. I've found some really good information on sites where the content was clearly created by someone who doesn't have English as their first language. As long as I can make out what they are trying to say, I'm okay with it.

I read blogs not based on the quantity or quality of the articles or blogs but based on whether they have unique information to offer. A good number of blogs are copycats of others as the bloggers skim for information from other blogs though they might get useful information in the process.

Mostly I read blogs when I am get attracted with the title and then I read it. I subscribed when I like what I read, just like with YouTube videos. I also love reading reviews, stories about success, inspirational and tutorials.

I have passion for reading but prefer to read a topic only if it appeals to me.If it has a good and catchy heading with no doubt motivational and educational content.

Unfortunately, a good number of blogs have the irritating habit of posting misleading article headings only to lure readers.

Given the popularity of drama topics in blogs, I surmise it would be a very tall order to sift through this chaff to reach the gem.

First of all, I only read blogs that are moderate in length, that's less than 1,000 words. Long articles make me lose my interest except when the topic is very interesting to me and the way the blog is written was pretty dynamic.

When reading a blog post is because it gives answers to a question I have.
Mostly I follow a blog because I get solutions to problems I have.

Be warned; most of the answers/cures you get on blogs are written by average people just like you. You can thus logically use these only for casual reference purposes.

I used to be a fanatical reader of a particular political blog sometime ago. Having seen the light, I no longer read that blog as frequently as I used to.

There is a certain blog that I visit whenever I am feeling down. The inspiring content there helps to revive my spirits.
