Pop Your child is bad at academics no matter hard how they try... How to make sure they will have a good future

Postby Netherrealmer » 31 Mar 2021, 18:40

Let's say your tried everything to improve their grades but they are just not good at academics. Just because your kid is bad at academics, it doesn't mean they are dumb. Many people who are bad at academics are discovered to be genius in other kinds of intelligence. I know many parents out there who will nagged their kids until they commit suicide because their grades won't improve. People with bad grades struggles to get into a good university or even find a job. The system we have right now is broken and needs to be fixed. College should not be forced for students who are not meant for it.

Here are things you can do if your kid is bad at academics.

1. Try to check if they have learning disorder. I know a kid who have adhd and his grades are bad even if his parents hired tutors. Little did they know he have ADHD and learning disorder. Many parents these days doesn't care about mental health and thought their nagging and scolding is all what the child needed. The kid should have been enrolled to a special school for people with learning disability or be homeschooled. People with mental disorders have a different way of absorbing information in their brain.Give the child professional help instead of verbally abusing him or her to have better grades. A kid with learning disorder who get the professional help ends up being college graduate geniuses. Teachers from regular school doesn't know how to educate kids with learning disorders.

2. Make them learn sports. Though some Athletes are scholars, Many of them are dropouts! Try to check if your kid have potential in any sport and will find a sport they will love. If they will graduate Highschool with bad grades and will just fail college, the might as well focus on a sport where they will prosper. Manny Pacquiao is an elementary dropout and he is a billionaire in his currency. Naomi Osaka is the highest paid athlete in Japan with a Networth of 30 million. Let your child try different sports and find where they can excel.Let them find a sport that they will like and be good at.

3. Try to find their talent and passion. Can they sing? Play instrument? Paint?dance? 20 years ago wanting to be in performance art is seen as failure by many parents since only 1 percent succeeds in performance arts. You know what? You don't need to be mainstream anymore to make money with performance art. Singers have other ways to make money aside from making it to the mainstream. Hotel Singers and Cruise ship singers have decent salary. Then singers and Musicians can now stream on Twitch and make cash. Painters and visual artist can now make money with Youtube, patreon, Twitch and many online platforms. Indie singers 100% get the earnings of their album sales so they make a decent living now as long as they will be careful with their money. I had seen so many talented people who were blocked by their parents and forced them to go to college and they end up being depressed people living in regret.

4.Teach them skills that can make them money. I have a friend who is a drop out but he just took a vocational course and learn how to do welding. There is a high demand for welders in countries like Australia, Canada, Japan and South Korea. He is able to work abroad and saved all that money and his wife used his earnings to start a business. If you think your kid hates college, let them take a vocational course instead because many of them gives opportunities. Farmers are portrayed on tv as poor people but there are rich farmers out there. This guy is a highschool drop out who learned how to plant red bananas and red bananas made him rich.

If a kid hates college, let them pick a vocational course that can be learned from 6 months to a year.

My daughter hated school and was definitely not academic. She couldn't wait to leave but quickly realised that she would always end up in dead end jobs without qualifications. She decided to do adult education and has gone from strength to strength and now has a great well paid job as a civil servant. Sometimes the real learning starts when you leave school

No collars never needed qualifications though because they made their own opportunities. An elementary dropout turned millionaire inspired me to farm ducks after realizing how easy to raise them. I didn't take any agriculture courses but I am doing well. My Psychology major had been a waste since I live in a country that doesn't care about mental health. I also do online jobs that me money. I cant use my self as an example but I knew so many "No collar" people who doesn't have follow the rules and traditions. If I can turn back time, I would have been an influencer when I was younger and more marketable.

Have you ever considered using your knowledge of Psychology to earn online - e.g. by providing online counselling or owning a psychology related forum or blog?

Not every child will be good at academics. Each child have their own talent. Its time to recognize those talents and focus only on that to be successful in later stages of life.

My son was also faced the same problem, initially i tried all the ways to make him to read and to wright. But, i failed. Then, i changed the approach towards son's academics. Firstly, using teaching aids, i just made him to think and ask related questions which improves his interest in particular respective subject. Secondly, using related videos, pictures i created my son's attention/focus towards the subject. Thirdly, satisfying his simple needs like playing, ice-creams, watching cartoons, chocolates, etc.... once they start understanding the concepts, then, their positive energy starts increasing which helps them to sit and try to understand on their own. Using all these, we can improve kids academics slowly an effectively. :)

Also we should be happy for decent grades instead of pressuring them to have A+ which is a torture for them.

That is a very positive story. Each child needs a different approach. Even two siblings have totally different approach towards learning and in pursuing their interests.

Also parents, Please don't pressure them to have perfect grades, passing enough to graduate is enough satisfying grade. Not everyone can be an einstein.

African parents especially needs to see this. They believe if a child does not go to school and get good grades he can't have a good life. There are many proofs that disclaims this but they are not willing to believe it.

Daniel Kaluuya is a successful actor and his African parents still want him to find a real job because they don't think acting is a real job,he just won an Oscar.

These are really good tips. I especially like the first one. In my generation and earlier generations so many learning disabilities and other disorders that can affect one's performance went undiagnosed. With these things, it's often the case that the child just needs some extra help or different teaching methods to succeed.

Also I think, while it is important to complete basic education, it's not the end of the world if a person doesn't find their way within the world of academics - there are other options for succeeding, and they can still go back to education as an adult.

Basically if your kid is not academic, try to find their talents and maybe their talent is the road to success. Supportive parents can help artists succeed. Most artist fails because parents are not supportive.

I can very much relate to the article here. I am a special educator and counselor by profession. So, I come across many children like that on my day to day basis. And I am also a mother of a 15-year-old who has a learning disorder. So, I have seen it as a parent as well as a professional. These children just need some encouragement and hand-holding for a while to help them bloom. Unfortunately, they are misunderstood and their self-esteem and confidence are shattered by constant criticism and push. They end up having severe behavior issues too.

I have two kids, my son is a brilliant student and he has received prizes every year due to his grades, my daughter is also a great student, not so good as her brother but she is doing above the average too. My daughter has always said that she wants to be a doctor but my son wants something related to the cinema but cinema in my country has no expression at all and he won't get a well-paid job in this area, I have already told him this (I wasn't supportive at all) but he is still very interested in it.

There was a time when you were required to get higher education with good grades to get a job and live a decent life. But that is no longer a requirement. You can earn in a variety of ways.I see kids as young as 16 years old earning by streaming game videos

School is not just going to favor everyone. I believe in learning skills that would enable one to sustain themselves without relying on the government for jobs. There are many people from my country who are making money from skills such as barbing, graphics design and they make more money than most government workers who went to school. Our government doesn't pay much.

We should not undermine the importance of academic excellence but we should understand that not everyone will be academically sound, not everyone will benefit from school and collegee

Let me use my lfamily as an example. 2 girls. 7 boys.

* *
My sister was a reader and she was extremely intelligent. She would read encyclopedias for fun!

Me? I only touched an encyclopedia if I had to prepare a report for school.

Which one of us went to university? ME!

My sister didn't want to go!

Everybody expected me to go and I did!

Everybody flipped out when my sister said she didn't want to go to college! My mother threw her hands up in the air and said: “Fine! Go get a job!”

* *
My seven (7) brothers?

All except ONE should have attended an institution of higher learning and received a degree. But not all of them did. 2 had very ambitious educational goals and they accomplished them. The other 4? 1 could have been an artist, but he never pursued it. The other 3 started pursuing higher education but ... Eh!

The ONE. One of my brothers could barely read. He dropped out of school. But he got a job working with “special needs” kids and those kids loved him!! I call it his “gift”. Who knew??? <3

Neither our mother or our father helped us figure out which path to take. I'm not putting them down. They did what they could. We had food. We had a roof over our head. We had clothes on our back. But the rest we had to figure out on our own. :D
