Ever wonder who some iconic songs are writen about?

Postby Netherrealmer » 05 Dec 2020, 14:22

The song "killing me softly" is mostly identified with Roberta Flack and The Fugees because those are the most popular covers. The song is mostly identified with African American culture but It was originally sung by a Blond white girl.

Lieberman claimed that she was invited by a friend to watch a Don Mclean concert. When she heard him singing he felt like the lyrics hits her that she cried. She have no idea who Don Mclean is but the moment he heard him sing she felt like he is singing her life.
----

Katy Perry use to sing Christian songs but she got famous when she sang the song "I kissed a girl and I liked it"
So who kissed her? Miley Cyrus claims its her but according to Katy it is Scarlett Johansson aka Black Widow from the Avengers.

Speaking of Katy Perry.... The Taylor Swift song Bad Blood is a diss track about her.

--
The Vamps have a song where they talk about they found a girl and develop a crush on her but sadly she is a lesbian so she dumped all of them before they even have a chance.

That girl is Lauren from 5th harmony

Dont speak is the song that puts Gwen Stefani and No Doubt on the map.

The song is actually a break up song because Gwen use to date the bassist of the Band Tony Kanal. Yes they use to date and they collaborate to write a song together about their break up. She wrote a song about him again with the song cool. A song about ex-lovers who became best friends.

---
This song..... LOL I can't type the title.
Have so much profanity because his girlfriend cheated on him

The woman replied. She didn't held back and defend her side.

Well, I think I did hear one of these songs. Not much familiar with others but quite interesting facts to know about!

Just a curious query: Can we write some article about some of the great cricket players' careers from 1980s and 90s here on FC?

:eh:

Article section I believe allows tutorials, technology, self help, business. If you can find a way to make it related to those topics. it could work. It is up to fergal... if he d
oesn't approve it, your article will be moved to a different section. You can find a way to make it related to the allowed categories if you are creative enough.

This song is written by these boys about their Math teacher Ms Mackenzie

There are not many songs that I can think of like that these days. Most of the songs you know who the singer is singing about it.

Like when Janet Jackson split with her husband. (You couldn't see his face - but he was the guy who had his hands on her boobs when she posed for the cover of one of her albums.) I can't remember the name of the song but I knew it was about the break-up between her and her husband.

Or when Justin Timberlake broke up with Britney Spears.

Or I'm pretty sure that Alanis Morissette sang songs about her break-ups or bad relationships.

But back in my day, Carly Simon's song with the lyrics "You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you" ... I've always wondered who that song was about. :?: :?:

I looked this up and there was some speculation about it. Carly Simon referred to three men but only publicly named Warren Beatty. In an article she wrote she mentioned the second verse of You're So Vain was about him.

Oughta know and some of her early materials are about her break up with Ryan Reynolds....Alanis is like a rock version of Taylor Swift... Shading exes on her songs.....

Her song Hands Clean is about the pedophile groomer she dated when she was 14 years old. That guy was 29 years old when he dated her under age.

She named that pedo guy to be Producer Leslie Lowe

Alanis Morissette and Taylor Swift had made their fortunes through bad relationships.

Adele also made good money from her break-up songs.

It's kind of sad though. That sort of doesn't give a person an incentive to have a happy relationship if you're going to make a butt-load of money writing songs about break-ups.

To be fair ... there are lot of happy love songs. I always liked that song "Our House" :D (https://youtu.be/tKYjUn-SBcg).

OMG Crosby Stills Nash and Young .. I have this album on vinyl. <3

Yes I read somewhere that Adele said she never wrote well unless she was heartbroken.

Every song has a background mostly to do with those that have come in the life of lyricists. Jim Reeves is a fine example and so do many more.

Mariah Carey's song Obsessed is apparently about Eminem. She dumped him and he can't accept it.

Olivia Rodrigo's song Driver's license is about her ex boyfriend Ethan Wacker and Sabrina Carpenter, the girl he cheated on her.

Sabrina Carpenter defended herself from Rodrigo by writing her song skim, which is a revenge song against Rodrigo:

There is always a background story when any song si written or composed. People get moments in their lives that make their creative juices flow. Song making is an art and things in life inspire it.

This one is cute:

Lily Allen made a diss track against her then unemployed Marijuana junkie little brother Alfie.

Alfie Allen was so angry from this song when he saw it on youtube that he threw his laptop through his window.
A decade later, her so called unemployed deadbeat brother Won an Emmy.

His sister pissed him off so much it inspired him to prove her wrong that he is not a deadbeat
