Marvel is wondering why their comic sales had been dropping

Postby Netherrealmer » 18 Mar 2021, 18:28

Marvel Cinematic Universe is making billions but the comic books had been declining. Due to American fans buying Manga and reading webtoons (Korean digital comics you can read for free)instead.

Well the past 10 years Marvel had become political and they are doing it in a very alienating way. They try to pander to people who don't read comics.

Marvel just launched the New Captain America and he is gay:
Image

I have nothing against Gay characters but why not an original character instead of taking the mantle of Captain America. Fans had been clear they don't want their favorites to be replaced. Also he doesn't look cool.

Japan made gay characters in Anime too like Bulat from Akame Ga Kill but he is well received because he is not spamming the fact he is gay every minute. He is just a superhero who happens to be Gay.

Japan Managed to make a Gay superhero who looks so cool that casual audiences watches him in anime and reads him in manga.

He is an original character and not a replacement

In case of Marvel comics though they shoved it to the throats of the readers that actual gay people don't read the comics because its pandering and virtue signaling.

Speaking of Replacement, Captain Marvel killed Tony Stark.
Image

They gave the Ironman mantle to this girl named Riri.
Image

Fans got Angry so they changed her superhero name into Ironheart because fans don't want to accept her as Ironman.

Oh Bruce Banner retires as Incredible Hulk, He transfers his powers to Amadeus Cho, They want to get the Kpop crowd but fans also didn't accept him.
Image

Yes fans wanted to see diversity but not the expense of existing character. They have the ability to make new original characters to represent a certain ethnicity or group but do not replace an existing character with fanbase. Also Marvel actually have existing Black, Asian, Latino and Gay Superheroes who had been around for decades, why not use them instead of killing off iconic characters.

Marvels needs to stop these Mantle transfer. Create new characters or develop existing characters if you want diversity.

Heck Thor is not a Mantle, its his birth name but Marvel decided to transfer his powers to his girlfriend so Thor is a woman now while the original Thor is being punished in hell.

Image

Remember in X-men where Wolverine and Cyclops are fighting over the love of Jean Grey? They don't fight over her anymore because they are now in a bisexual relationship with Jean Grey. Jean ask them to Fug each other while she watches.... :wtf:

So if they are not killing off their Iconic superheroes to replace them with unknowns, they ruin the existing ones.

Marvel is wondering why their comic sales is dropping while MCU is doing well.

Oh Spiderman and Mary Jane just divorced because a Marvel writer thinks its a great idea. So he can fug other women.

I can see live action adaptation of Webtoons to surpass MCU because right now all Netflix adaptation of Webtoons are successful. Webtoons is free, Webtoons doesn't have politics

This is the kind of stuff that intrigues young kids, comics are not so famous nowadays but they are still being read in countries where computer games have not reached or being explored.

Who is Riri? I would rather transfer it to War Machine who is black.
I never hear for Riri in any movie or cartoon. Only kid I know is that boy ,I think from Iron Man 3 movi,e who at end of movie got new computers and equipment. He allowed Toni to use his garage and fix Iron Man suit.

Some new character Marvel forced but failed to make happen because fans hated her so much that they changed her name from Ironman to Ironheart because fans dont want to accept her as Ironman.

Fans don't really like Mantle replacement characters, especially if the replaced one is iconic. Killing off Tony Stark to make Riri happen offended fans. Riri don't even have a build up, she just came out of nowhere to become Ironman.

Instead of replacement, they should have created new characters. I am sorry, I have nothing against gays but gay captain America is ridiculous, they just ruined the character, if they want to please the LGBT they should create a new super hero.

That is my point, A new character with its own legacy and name will have more chance to be embraced by fans. I am sure they make him gay so they can have shield from criticism and say people who doesn't like this replacement are just homophobic. They had been trying to replace the characters with new mantle holders and all of them are hated by fans.

because they alienate the only fans they have left. No one wants to see a Gay Captain America, female Thor or Korean Hulk. Fans wanted original characters, not replacements.

Mangas are still selling well because Japan dont put politics in their comics.

If they keep replacing characters instead of creating new ones they will keep losing fans. I understand that it is difficult to have ideas for a completely new character but they would have better results if they try.

I believe marvel should focus more on providing a better experience to fans by making the comics available as visual novels in the comics application. People want more and easy entertainment and this is a great way to attract more people.

and stop adding politics on their comic because they are not good on writing about it. They need to stop insulting the remaining fans that buy comics too.

This is very true. People especially marvel fans didn't like the way Marvel phased out Tony Stark as Ironman. I am already used to Tony Stark in that Ironman suit and it is annoying seeing Riri replace Tony Stark.

Marvel thinks Riri will translate well in the movies. her comics don't even sell copies. They should realize 1 out of 100 replacement mantle characters succeed. Most people are too attached to the original.

A small step of Marvel comics, a giant leap backward. In Indian comics, there is no gay character, if comic industry dare to convert a fan, it will left with no fan.

Fans don't mind gay characters if its just an original character who happens to be gay, What fans don't like is to be virtue signalled and be reminded this character is gay all the time. Anime have gay characters too but they are not alienated people because its not shoved on their throat. The character is humanized instead of being centered around their sexuality. The gay captain America is not selling well not because he is gay but he is replacing an iconic character.

I think regarding comics, you are right that japan anime or manga is one of their competitor... One thing is that most people are not interested in comics anymore because of a lot of things to be entertained online...

DC is doing well though, and Marvel does have an online platform too. Its just Marvel fans hate these badly written and badly designed replacement characters they are forcing.

marvel sales have been dropping since forever why do you think they are experimenting? think about it would they try to change if the old ways were working. once upon a time marvel was in bankruptcy

they took a chance with the ultimates line and it kinda worked so they kept it up. they are trying to cater to the teens and kids of today that see gay representation more often, diversity more often and see females in position of power. if you are in your 30s and up you probably aint the demographic they want.

the original marvel universe exists in your mind and childhood teenage years maybe adultish years but at some point marvel isnt trying to sell comics to 30 to 40 year old adults the same with the cartoons. the movies skew a little older because its a action movie at heart.

comparing superhero comics to manga isnt a good comparison because manga readers generally dont buy superhero comics anyway. as for ironheart maybe they changed her name because she wasnt a man?

my marvel universe ended when i stopped reading comics my memories are in the past all the new storylines are interesting and strange but i dont get mad because i dont collect or read marvel or dc comics anymore.
I left before they even had the marvel civil war so hearing about that was odd to me. I feel for you but change is a part of life nothing stays the same forever
