Pop How Twitter changed the world for the worst

Postby Netherrealmer » 03 Nov 2020, 22:40

This is a sequel to this article:
viewtopic.php?f=67&t=29248

The last time I discussed the positive impact of Twitter on society. It made the world more woke about the problems of society. It made the Youth more socially aware. Also, it gave people a way to have fun. Well, it is a double-edged sword and today I will discuss the negative impact on the world.

Harms of Twitter to the society

1.Many companies get rid of their Phone hotline customer service and moves their customer service to Twitter. Technical support on phone is easier because you are with a live person. My Bank gets rid of their call center so, If I need to contact customer service, Twitter is my only option. A human on phone can solve my problem in 20 minutes. On Twitter, You are lucky to get a reply in 20 minutes. It took me a whole day to finish my technical support problem.

2.Political propaganda that manipulates people. Twitter is the best social media when it comes to fact-checking and combating fake news but that doesn't stop Politicians from using this as a tool. Some Politicians have troll farms that spread propaganda that can influence the elections of many countries.

Look at this cute little girl from Eastern Europe, I wonder what is she typing...
Image

Well, she is using Facebook but There is a study that many pro-Trump Tweets have Ip addresses in Eastern Europe.
Image

Many people noticed that many pro-Trump Tweets trend on Twitter during times Americans are asleep and Eastern Europeans are awake. You don't even need to use a VPN detector, The moment you click their profile you will see they are from Russia, Slovenia, and other Slavic countries. Also, many anti-Hong-Kong Tweets are detected from China when Twitter is banned in China.

3. Cancel Culture When someone is accused of wrongdoing, People are going to cancel that person without evidence. Oh, people who have a difference in opinion also make cancel campaigns against someone of a different opinion. Cancel Culture is one of the most toxic parts of Twitter.
Cancel culture also caused a divide between many people from race, political beliefs, religion, and gender.

4. Map community= MAP stands for Minor Attracted Person. Yup Twitter has a pedophile community that justifies their rights. Images of child pornography are being spread on Twitter left and write but Twitter is not trying to ban them. Twitter even defended the MAPS expressing their opinions because Twitter said they have rights to freedom of Speech. I tried reporting these people and some of them got banned but they kept making new accounts.

5.Toxic people
- Twitter has a cyberbullying problem. Many people had committed suicide because Twitter is full of people who will not leave you alone until you kill yourself.

Yeah Twitter can be toxic but I love fighting on there. Of course I am smart to use fake name and pic and IP for my trolling. So they try to bully me but they bully a person who does not exist lol. I have not had time to troll for a while.

Also to add to the list. Twitter censors real news that does not go with their agenda which is what Hitler did.

-- 03 Nov 2020, 23:08 --

To add another point Twitter is now censoring real news to fit their agenda and many people are leaving it.
Like they are leaving Youtube. US Gov is sueing Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter for blocking news and meddling in the election. Here is the news about Twitter.

I still find the Maps community disturbing and why they are not being banned. Also why they are allowed to re-register after you managed to get the banned.

It is not only on Twitter that there are toxic people, we can find them on all social media. I am not a fan of social media sites and never really give it the importance that for me they don't have but there are people that organize their lives around Twitter and Facebook. I feel sorry for them.

Twitter DM customer service sucks though. It will take you a whole day to solve the problem. call center customer service can be solved within an hour.

I see only positive sides of social media companies, including Twitter. A knife is a good utility tool, however, a lot of people harm themselves and others with the knife. The same is the case with Twitter and other social sites.

Seriously the Maps and the bestiality community on Twitter should be banned but Twitter is not doing anything against it.

Twitter has a lot of disadvantages as it has advantages. Your point about companies resorting to Twitter as their support center is true. There are times when people get alerts of money being deducted from their bank accounts by online thieves and before you get a reply from the Twitter page of the bank, the scammers would have succeeded in doing away with all your money.
With this, it's important to walk into any close Branch of the institution and lay your complains. This would be faster than the Twitter support page.

Also cyber bullying is becoming common. Sometimes, people lay false allegations of rape on others and then Twitter users would go to the accused page and lay all sort of curses on the person without getting to know his own side of the story.

I wish this law was everywhere. There is so much cyber bullying happening everywhere. I also didn't like how it took me so long to get my issues resolved when I have to DM a certain brand when a I have issues with their products and services. I am glad I have learnt never to use my real name or pictures on social media. I am getting more and more enlightened. I never knew that is how trump has been operating. Is there any politician with no scandals?

I think it is easier with Japan because their population is low, so trolls can be easily get caught. It will be hard in high population countries like USA or India.

A couple of months ago, my home country introduced cyber law according to which the government can catch anyone who abuses another person on social sites. This law is aimed at stopping cyber bully but has already been misused by the government to silence the opponents.

Twitter owner, or especially Twitter India CEO is helping to spread fake news, and doing biased favour to one community against other community, unless management change mindset, there is less possibility to stop negativity.

Anyone can be cyberbullied nowadays. I have ever bullied someone on the net. I felt horrible afterward, nowadays all I use my social media for is to stalk people and see the progress in their lives. Which country is this by the way? Everyone wants to do the crime no one wants to do the time. How long can someone be charged for?

I think these deaths were mainly suicides. There is some evidence that the internet and social media can influence suicide-related behavior. Cyberbullying has led to increasing numbers of self-harm and suicide. There have also been suicide challenges from several games like the Momo Challenge, and the Blue Whale Challenge.

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand I think the most harm Twitter has ever done was allowing Donald Trump to have a Twitter account. On the other hand, I am glad that Twitter "tolerated" his existence as POTUS for 4 years so that Americans can have an historical record of the worst president in the history of the United States.
