I think for ebooks, you should start by first compiling the ebook, then you can sell it is sites such as amazon. You can also promote the ebook on social media sites and you could get buyers there.

I agree, Amazon is a good option. A lot of indie authors opt for this, although I understand there are many other options. So you might want to search for Amazon alternatives. I also hope to put together an eBook in the future and I think I'll definitely be going with Amazon although not everyone's happy with it.

True, the commissions in Amazon have really reduced recently. Thus it has become unattractive to new writers. But this calls for quality content, that can sell in large quantities.

That's such a shame! I've observed that some of the indie authors I like have moved over to Kobo, apparently because Amazon has started moving the goalposts and complicating its terms. I may have to rethink the idea of getting a new Amazon Kindle to replace my current one.

Selling Ebooks sounds great! I've tried haven't had any luck yet. I think you need a large social circle,to sell your books. Or a big family.

Not really, to sell a book, you need:
1. Really good title & Keywords.
2. Really engaging and fresh Content
3. Really good writing skills.
4. Really good patience & Resilience

After Twilight and 50 shades of gray become hit books, I think writing talent is not a requirement anymore. Those books not only have bad grammar they are terribly written.

I saw post on Facebook where a guy show paper with many red marks. Those are grammar mistakes. In post was text like this: There was before lector who read and correct text before it was published in newspapers or as book. Now, there is nothing about it. Nobody cares for language.

Great experience, I like the Affiliate more, once I tried but did not get a dime, so I quit it long back, perhaps I should try it again.

I am an engineer too, mechanical-turned-marine engineer, and I sail on board specialised Dynamic Positioning support vessels as a Chief Engineer for almost 7 months in a year - that's my main source of income. I do have dream of writing e-books on marine engineering topics, especially those that will help budding marine engineer prepare for their Certificate of Competency exams. I do have sufficient material - just waiting for a stimulus which will get me going. Whatever, I earn from my online activities is just peanuts, and it won't qualify seriously as a source of income, but rather more of a hobby.

My suggestion would be to get started right away. You could start by, deciding that you will spend a minimum of 2 mins per day writing / putting together your first e-book. Don't let a day go past without spending at least two minutes on it. That way you will get into the habit of working on it and you will be moving in the right direction. There will be days when you spend more than 2 minutes on it, but the discipline of doing even a small bit every day, will build momentum and keep you going in the right direction. If it's a "dream" it's worth putting the effort in and getting started.

I'd also recommend that your minimum of two minute,s is spent directly on the activity, i.e. on your e-book and not on preparing to write an e-book. Spend the time on content, not on researching or reading articles on how to write an e-book.

Good luck with it anilmr.

Speaking of writing ebooks, Grammarly premium help me got my articles published. So it can be used for writing ebooks too. It not only fixes grammar but the readability too.

I have to say though, I honestly don't like Grammarly all that much. Ok, I do use it but find I have to be very, very vigilant because quite often, it's WRONG - some errors slip through the net, while it tends to highlight perfectly fine words/phrases/sentence structures as wrong when they are not   It's ok, but certainly far from perfect.

One that proper grates on my nerves is 'It's' - short form of 'it is' - honestly 9 out of 10 times, Grammarly wants to change it to 'its' as in the possessive. Like, really?!? Also (I know I did say one thing!), all names and words in my language get me a mark down  Surely if it's clearly a name, it has nothing to do with Grammar. I know it doesn't really matter but I really pride myself on good grammar and written skills and even though I try not to let it get to me, it really winds me up

Yes sir, thanks to your advice I have compiled all the material needed, including circuit diagrams, illustrations, pictures of various parts of hydraulic machinery, and also animations need to write an e-book on Marine Hydraulic Machinery. I'm planning to show this to my seniors from my industry for their advice and suggestions.
