Kei wrote:I didn't choose my bank. It chose me. At the time I opened the account, it was the closest bank that suited my profile. I could get it done easily in a few days so I went for it. I've been using it without problems ever since.

This was the situation for me too, my bank chose me. I was joining campus and it required that we pay fees using a certain bank. That's why I decided to create an account with that bank and I haven't experienced any problem since.

In India it s always safe to invest your money in different Banks as each bank will pay only Hundred thousand rupees as compensation in case the bank gets bankruptcy and has money more than Hundred thousand rupees in it! So it is wiser to distribute the eggs in different basket instead of keeping all in one basket! So I have different banks to save my money and I am always watchful about them!

Longetivity might not be a factor because most banks can stay for long, then later start having difficulty or problem

Before choosing a bank I will first check if its
Regulated
Secured
And reliable

I think I already found the best bank for me. I haven't been a fan of online banking. With all the issues I read about online banking fraud, I am too afraid to try it. But I realized I really need it now especially with the situation. Because of the increasing number of customers and been so busy with my work, I was not able to go out to replenish my wallet.

I tried to transfer fund from my bank using the online platform and fund was successfully transferred in real time. No need for me to go out and buy load. And another good thing, fees are waived because of the pandemic.

Having more branches, ATMs is helpful but these days I prefer the Internet banking and it's easier than visiting the bank branch or ATM all the time

The main thing I was clear about was I didn't want to go with this hugely popular bank that is so congested and such, the systems are a mess. And then I decided based on which one I felt was forward-thinking and embraced modern technology. Weirdly, on this side of the world, we're charged for using digital services, which I find ridiculous. I don't pay for internet banking with my UK account.

In America we have banks and credit unions. I prefer credit unions. They have less rules and regulations. You can open an account with just $5.

My current bank is also close to my home. It becomes easy whenever I'm need for any bank related work.

I also chose mine because the branches are closer to both my school and home. I can conviniently access them.

I take it these don't have ridiculous charges either? My UK bank account is with what we refer to as a building society - it's easier to open and cheaper to run. I've been with it forever and have absolutely NO COMPLAINTS. I might open one with a building society here as well.

Well, choosing the right bank is a personal decision, and it won’t be the only one that you have to make. Personally I would choose the bank nearest to me and I would look at the number of branches and locations of ATMs the bank offers.

Nearness to my locations, the efficiency of the bank and general reviews about the bank are factors to also considered.
