My aunt gave me a call and ask me to help her fix her car. While I was in the garage I saw an old magazine from the 1960's inside her toolbox. It is a science magazine and it has an article about how they think people from 2018 will live. LOL I saw a picture of a woman still using a payphone. Just like some old future prediction there are flying cars.
They have no visions of smartphones nor the internet. They predictions though of cities in outer space and robots replacing maids. The robot vacuums we have now can't even clean a house.
Oh the magazine also predicted natural disasters like storms and hurricanes are now gone because humans can now control the weather. They never predicted the flat screen tv's but they predicted a gigantic box with multiple screens where you can watch multiple tv shows at the same time.
They do have something that look like apple watches as part of their vision though. The most ridiculous prediction is a special helmet that can make dumb children smart.

I must say they were not far off with their predictions. They were pretty close. Though they may not have used the right phrases or words, but they had an idea intersting mmhh.

Many people had think that wires will gone forever and in one part they were right. We have wireless connection but wireless energy transfer is not yet developed for mass use.

I recall that in Mid 1980s, there was a chain of thought that predicted that in next 30-40 years, we will have robots everywhere, and common space travel, even for ordinary folks and more common space colonies. Yet I don't recall much talk of smartphones, though flying cars was predicted by some.

What about us? Can you predict how the world will be in 50 years? I understand that It was difficult for them to predict the internet, It was unpredictable because there was nothing about It before, só they based their predicting in what they already had. I have to agree some are hilariant.

My prediction of the future is more modests than theirs. The old movies I saw on my childhood have high expectations of the year 2000 while the real year 2000 is a boring year.
Wifi though got invented in the 1940's by a popular actress but yeah it was for military use then.

My prediction of the future is more modests than theirs. The old movies I saw on my childhood have high expectations of the year 2000 while the real year 2000 is a boring year. :lol:
