Yeah, I like to use smoked paprika in just about anything that calls for regular paprika.

However in the BBQ sauce, it's especially important to have that subtle smoky flavor, just like you would in your standard store bought BBQ sauce. I think that's what the chipotle powder is trying to add, and using the smoked paprika will give you that without adding extra heat.

This is not necessarily a BBQ thing, but something I can't imagine not having when I cook burgers on the grill -- KETCHUP! Unfortunately I can't really have most manufactured ketchups right now either, as almost every single one contains sugar or corn syrup. There are a few expensive unsweetened ones out there, but we haven't liked the one that I bought (it reminded me of seasoned tomato paste).
I made this ketchup recipe today, and I think it works! It definitely has the right mouthfeel. I didn't have any white wine vinegar on hand, so I used apple cider vinegar instead.
