I had the same experience as you with Neobux and have tried more than once to make money. I just wasn't any good at managing my referrals and lost more than I earned. I found that although I started out well the referrals eventually stop clicking and making money for you which meant you had to recycle. Sometimes I would just trade non clickers for more non clickers, I found the whole thing stressful and just logged out one day and didn't go back.
However, some people do well there. I think Cyberfreak has a Neobux account and is successful. He might post here when he sees this and tell you his opinion of the site.
More recently they had an advertising campagin where you could click 200 half cent ads (xoxly ads) and earn over a dollar a day but this has now finished so I have left the site again.
