Postby bestwriter » 20 Dec 2025, 02:08

There is a test to know if one has ARMD - Age Related Macular Degeneration. One needs to close one eye and look at the window bars. If they are wonky then that open eye has ARMD It affects central vision. There is no cure although there are injections which are mostly ineffective.

Do any eye exercises help avoid ARMD? If it is muscular degeneration, can exercising those muscels help?

It is not muscular but macular. I think the only way is proper diet and avoiding U/V blue light I take Lutein. Had I known about it earlier I would have had a better diet loaded with leafy vegetables and stuff.

Thanks for the clarification bestwriter, I've also started taking a supplement to help my eyes, in recent months. I also wish I had started earlier.

The Amsler Grid test is a quick way to detect ARMD. If the lines appear crooked or wavy, it means the center of your eye is starting to malfunction. It's important to get your eyes checked early, before it gets dark, because ARMD can impair your ability to read and recognize faces.

What I have noticed is that Ophthalmologists never get such a test done.

It's good that lutein has helped you, nutrition and eye care are so important. Hopefully more awareness will help others take preventive steps earlier.

Ophthalmologists should also include that ARMD test occasionally.

Did it actually improve your eyesight? Can you please tell us a little more about the particular supplement you take?
