OK. OK. I have to eat my words. I went back to Vocal.Media. (especially since all that writing work I did on Quora yielded zero results.) I had no problem signing in except that I needed a new password. I took some of my old content that has just been lying around getting no traffic and started republishing it at Vocal.Media.
To my surprise, as long as the content was 600+ words and I left a note at the bottom that the content appears elsewhere on the web and provided the link. They approved the content within less than half an hour.
Someone on Vocal.Media subscribed to my stories yesterday (Surprise!) and so I visited a few of their stories and left comments. The process was super easy.
Why did I go back? It's because my Stripe account is still connected. I figured since the payment account is still set up I might as well have a go at it! My old articles earned $1.26 but that was years ago. Maybe if I'm more active, I will earn something.
Actually my first Vocal.Media article resulted in $10 from a person who donated. But that happened once. Still! You never know.
One thing, I have to say is that $35 is a really high cutoff for requesting payment. Even so, I'll look at it as a Christmas Club savings account and hopefully … not this Xmas, but next Xmas, I might have some extra money.
It's not like I'm doing extra work. It's content that's already published anyway. What have I got to lose?

After I thought about I realized that with Medium you don't get credit for external views.
But with Vocal.Media, external views count! Vocal pays its writers $3.80 per 1,000 views, regardless of whether the viewer is a Vocal+ member or not. This means that views from outside the platform are included in the count, which can help increase your earnings.
The light bulb went off in my head. DUH!

kat82 wrote:I think all of those sites are dead as of now. I really don't know if anyone is still earning from Hubpages, or from Vocal. Only my prayers for the end to go well
eldavis wrote:If you can use both, i think that would be the best, since you can earn from both.i believe both uses PayPal so I can't use either even if i wanted to.

I also hold your view. I am not interested in upgrading on any site.
cmoneyspinner wrote:Yeah. Because many of these sites don't last.
