Japanese Car Makers Honda and Nissan in possible Merger Talks and Agreements

Postby ptrikha21 » 21 Dec 2024, 18:43

Big Car Maker Honda and another car maker from Japan : Nissan are out to make their ties stronger.
They could move towards a merger.
Both face stiff competition from Toyota, Tesla and many other car brands, including from China.

If the merger is completed, it would create a $54 billion company, that would become Number 3 ranked in the overall World Auto groups ranking by sales.

Some Analysts say that this merger would benefit Nissan more as it has been at a bigger Cost Savings plan that includes slashing employee numbers.

"This deal appears to be more about bailing out Nissan, but Honda itself is not resting on its laurels," said Sanshiro Fukao, executive fellow at Itochu Research Institute.

Plus there could be employee resistance to this merger owing to work culture differences.

Let us see how the things fare out.

These two established Japanese car makers merging together could form a powerful force that would be better positioned to take on big names like Toyota, Tesla, and others.

Yes, that could be the case provided that employees are able to work without restraints and the work culture differences do not come in the way.

Right. When employees collaborate freely and use each other's strengths, they could innovate and push boundaries more effectively.

Yet I have been a part of Merger where the synergies of both the merged companies did not work well.
In this case, I can make out that certain employees of Honda are reserved about the merger as there could be a feeling that Nissan would benefit more from this merger.

Nissan had focused on electric cars the last few years does it mean Honda will go electric too?

Wow! I'm a Toyota fan myself but I'd imagine this would be a coup for both manufacturers.

It could be a case of cross-utilization.
While Nissan's vehicles could use Honda's expertise in Automobile Engineering and Design, Honda could use Nissan's expertise in Electric Vehicles segment.
And well, this partnership could do them good not only in US and EU but in India and perhaps China as well.

Yes, provided they also sort the gaps in the differing work culture.

Is that so? I thought that they would just have an agreement with Mitsubishi.

May be this could make you think of something from Honda-Nissan stable in the future!

Yes it can be quite tough but then the Merging entities have to consider all this into account.
