Do you keep cash at home?

Postby JASPREET » 17 Dec 2024, 08:30

I am not keeping a big amount of cash at home and just like to keep a small amount for daily needs and for other things I prefer to buy online and pay online via card or kind but not with cash.

Do you keep cash at home?

I am all digital now due to covid scare, I feel uncomfortable touching cash. So I am all digital payment these days also robbers have nothing to steal.Be all digital and use and old model cellphone that is not a smartphone as your digital payer. Robbers will never rob someone with Nokia 3310. My smartphone stays at home when I go to market.

I also find it more convenient to use digital payment methods rather than carrying around large amounts of cash.

I suppose it is a generational difference. I grew up in an all cash home. Back when I was working full time, I always carried large sums in my pockets and at least a few thousand at home for unexpected purchases. Never had a problem with that.

I eventually placed all my regular bills on autopay but still keep a large enough sum at home and in my pocket for whatever comes up. I don't trust online banking and don't have a credit card. I do use a debit card for online purchases but nothing else. I find people I encounter still love a $20 tip and enjoy handing them out quite often, especially around Christmas. At this stage of life, I doubt I will ever change.

I have some cash at home and it is not small amount. I don't talk that to other people. One friend told me this is not smart since somebody can rob me but I like have some cash at home. You never know when you will be in hurry and atm will not work. Not everybody accept cards.

Yes I do and it is always for immediate purchases. I can't just stay without cash at all.

Though I mostly use bank transfer but I do keep a little change at home just in case I need to get something real quick.

If I did, I sure would not be advertising the fact on public Internet websites.

Absolutely agree, it's not a good idea to tell anyone you have cash at home.

How can you make payments from a phone that is not a smart phone?

You can use USSD codes to initiate and complete transactions on a phone without Internet.

Don't keep too much cash at home as its risky and many people spend more when they have more cash available

Right. That could make you a target for theft or other criminal activities.

I don't keep that much cash at home. Not for any reason but I don't just see the need. I prefer using my wallets.

I think its better to keep an emergency fund at home that can help us pay for anything that we need to and it should be enough to pay and we can calculate this amount as we know what sort of payments we may need to pay in emergency
