I put my phone on airplane mode anytime I take a nap. Why would you want to hear calls and texts when you are taking a nap? Are any of them really that important that they need to interrupt your short nap?

Yes, very important to myself. What if a loved one really needed me, myself and I?

Naps are my best friend. I gotta take one every day or I'm cranky like a little kid. Unfortunately it messes up my sleep schedule so now I get up at weird times and either get too much sleep or not enough. Oh well. Such is life. I'm not giving up my naps.

Re: Take A Siesta

Postby Spontaneo » 20 Jan 2024, 03:09

I just gave up on reading a book for pleasure instead of for work. The book is about the Slim Fast diet which I have been on since the new year and have lost 11 pounds.

My eyes hurt. My back hurts.

If the book would have been a cookbook, like usual, I would have been fine. I write cookbook reviews.

So, I prepared myself a mocha. The mocha tasted awful.

Earlier today, I took a siesta and had a nightmare.

grrrrr

Hopefully, all gets better. ;)

Remind me to stick to cookbooks!

I usually feel like this most times but most times when I am so stressed out and tired I just tend to force myself cause I know the body needs it.

I personally don't hesitate to take a siesta as much as my body needs it. Whenever I feel sleepy, I drop every form of work and sleep. Life is too short to complicate it with stress related health conditions in the future.

I did not get my nap in yesterday so I was cranky as hell. I've been awake for close to 24 hours now because I was too stressed out for a nap and now I'm too frustrated to sleep.

I agree with you. Some people tell me though that they can't take a siesta for one reason or another. Mostly because of their job. Get a work-from-home job!

Taking siesta or nap has much more health benefits inside it. I take it regularly because I am not any more in 9-5 job. In business you can close it during afternoon and do it easily.

Quite often, I require maybe a mini-meal and some water. When I am tired, I could be hungry. Then again, if I do have food, I could get tired.

What do you think?

I hardly have time for siesta these days. I easily get tired and dizzy due to lack of sleep. I need to go back to the good old days when I'd take a nap and cool my head so I wouldn't break down

Quite often, if I am in my bedroom office, I have a little ritual.

I might brew a mocha but lay down on my futon while the mocha cools off. I do not like drinks hot.

However, I may have some water with a water enhancer instead.

Then, either way, I am rejuvenated!

A siesta is something I have tuned myself to do as a daily routine. The brain needs that rest to cool off.

With this kind of weather we are experiencing in my country, a siesta on a bare tiled floor is a must unless it would affect your brain.

Re: Take A Siesta

Postby OldGuy » 16 May 2024, 03:38

Seems like I am living a 14 day week. I generally wake up around 5:30 to 6 am and go out for my offline work, at least for my seasonal March to December schedule. When I finish and go back home, I am usually asleep within a few minutes of coming in the door. I can drop off in seconds. I guess that counts for a siesta. I sleep for several hours and then wake up again around 6 to 7 pm to start my evening "day".

That's when I enjoy a big dinner, wash dishes and do other housework and then spend time on the computer for a few hours. Back to bed around 2 am to go for the next daylight shift. Even though I only get around 4 hours of sleep during each shift, I still end up with around 8 hours per 24 hours. Works for me.

Quite often, my roommate and others say that they wish that they could take siestas also.

They chose their lifestyle. They should not have taken on their work schedules.

I am curious.

How many of you prefer a good siesta either on a bed, on a couch or on a recliner?

I like to have a good siesta on my futon.

Mostly I get into bed and nap for about 25 minutes. If I have only a short amount of time, e.g. 10 or 15 minutes, I'll just lied on the couch.

Interesting. I do not have a bed. I have a futon as my bedroom is also my office. So, when I am in office mode, I can sit. When in bedroom mode, I can lay down.
