Re: Hubpages VS Vocal Media - which one would you choose?

Postby cmoneyspinner » 24 Nov 2024, 21:03

The thing with Vocal.Media is that you don't get much interaction from the community. At HUBPages there used to be interaction until they messed up the way you can comment. But with Vocal.Media I found it hard to comment and interact. I published 4 food-related articles there and I don't publish any more. I don't publish in lots of places anymore but I left my content there (because I'm too lazy to move it). I'm active on Medium now. Since they added about 60 to 70 countries that can participate in the Partners Program, my articles are seeing fresh faces.

OK. OK. I have to eat my words. I went back to Vocal.Media. (especially since all that writing work I did on Quora yielded zero results.) I had no problem signing in except that I needed a new password. I took some of my old content that has just been lying around getting no traffic and started republishing it at Vocal.Media.

To my surprise, as long as the content was 600+ words and I left a note at the bottom that the content appears elsewhere on the web and provided the link. They approved the content within less than half an hour.

Someone on Vocal.Media subscribed to my stories yesterday (Surprise!) and so I visited a few of their stories and left comments. The process was super easy.

Why did I go back? It's because my Stripe account is still connected. I figured since the payment account is still set up I might as well have a go at it! My old articles earned $1.26 but that was years ago. Maybe if I'm more active, I will earn something.

Actually my first Vocal.Media article resulted in $10 from a person who donated. But that happened once. Still! You never know.

One thing, I have to say is that $35 is a really high cutoff for requesting payment. Even so, I'll look at it as a Christmas Club savings account and hopefully … not this Xmas, but next Xmas, I might have some extra money.

It's not like I'm doing extra work. It's content that's already published anyway. What have I got to lose?

I am happy for you! That is awesome! I wish that all that I had to do was change my password instead of starting from scratch.

Sometimes the little gray cells in my brain are slow.

After I thought about I realized that with Medium you don't get credit for external views.

But with Vocal.Media, external views count! Vocal pays its writers $3.80 per 1,000 views, regardless of whether the viewer is a Vocal+ member or not. This means that views from outside the platform are included in the count, which can help increase your earnings.

The light bulb went off in my head. DUH!

I am simply going to create new content. I do not want to take any chances. With my luck, I would be charged with spam and get banned from the website. Thank you though.

I have not been paid yet because I have not reached the required number of views. But you do not have to upgrade. I can't afford the upgrade at the moment. I'm not sure I will pay for it even if or when I can.

It took me a long time to decide to upgrade my Medium account. Every now and then I debate if I should continue with that.

What helps me decide, is that I use an investment account and it takes a percentage of the money that I pay for monthly subscriptions and buys stock in companies like Netflix, Amazon, and Walmart. That way I don't feel like I'm wasting my money paying for upgrades and subscriptions.

HubPages offers advantages for writers, particularly for beginners and those looking to gain an online presence. It's a free platform, provides a simple setup process, and offers opportunities for earning revenue from content

I think all of those sites are dead as of now. I really don't know if anyone is still earning from Hubpages, or from Vocal. Only my prayers for the end to go well

You might be right.
I used to earn from HUBPages regularly. But when they went under new management, everything changed.

As for Vocal Media, the earnings are practically nonexistent. What I don't like about Vocal Media is that the community is not lively. Maybe if I used the paid plan, it would be different. But why should I?

I don't have to pay anything for my content to be on HUBPages. I just leave it there, and I'm happy whenever they send me earnings.

If you can use both, i think that would be the best, since you can earn from both.i believe both uses PayPal so I can't use either even if i wanted to.

You do make sense. However, personally, I can only concentrate on a certain website. For example, when I am on FC, I find working on another website difficult, such as WN.

Yeah. Because many of these sites don't last. I'm actually surprised that Medium.com is still standing. But the users are very loyal. Also, Medium just opened up to other countries that previously did not have access. The community is growing.

Whether they last or not, I don't want to upgrade for the peanuts they pay for our contribution to the site.
