What Is Appealing About The Sims?

Postby prometeheus » 06 Jun 2015, 08:28

For years now, The Sims franchise has been one of the most popular game franchises on the gaming market. I have found that it doesn't matter how old people are, or what genre of game they are usually into playing, they will still play and enjoy The Sims games.

But I have to say, I find The Sims games quite boring to play. It's boring enough having to run a household in real life, never mind in a computer simulation game. I don't know if I can explain it, but there's something terribly vacant about The Sims, and I'm not sure if that is because they don't speak English, or if it's because the AI needs to be improved.

I'm guessing that it is such a popular franchise, because it allows people to be whoever they want to be, and create the lives that they've always wanted.

Do you play The Sims? If so, what do you enjoy about it?

I am embarrassed to share this but I am going to anyways. I can remember first playing the Sims when I was 14 or so. That was the first Sims game or Sims 1 as I call it. I played it a lot like way to much a lot. It was nothing to come home from school, do my homework, speed through chores and eat and then be on the computer from 7pm-1pm or later if I could get away with it playing the game. I was bullied a lot in high school oddly the Sims helped me get through it. In my mind I believed I had something to look forward to when I played that game.

As an adult I own the entire series of Sims 1 games and some Sims 3 games. I do play the Sims but its in spurts I go months without it because I get bored of it. The same goes for World of Warcraft I would call myself previously addicted to this game I made my characters like me in real life, personality wise when I made friends or talked to people on the game. That is another game I don't play much because I get bored of it.

I think people like me who are depressed on constant basis for no reason and anxiety ridden sometimes turn to games to get relief and escape problems. Not that, that is healthy but it helps in a small way.

Hello I also awakened me to start much curiosity got the sims buying the Sims 1 and all expansions played and gave the reason you mention the game is very boring ultimately we draw interest because the game requires us to follow that routine and not let us evolve more :)
