How One Foreign YouTuber Ended Up Documenting a Historic Political Uprising in Nepal”

Postby Netherrealmer » 16 Sep 2025, 01:40

So, get this… travel YouTuber WeHateTheCold was supposed to be vlogging in Dubai. But his plane stops in Nepal, and he’s like, “Eh, why not stay a few days?” Totally clueless about the chaos brewing there.

Turns out, Nepal was boiling over. Spoiled sons and daughters of corrupt politicians—nepo-babies living it up in Europe with designer clothes, Michelin-star meals, and private jets—while ordinary people were struggling to survive. Naturally, this went viral, and Gen Z started roasting the government mercilessly.

Then things got real. The government banned social media to try and shut them up. Big mistake. And then… some students died during protests. 😔 That was the tipping point. Anger went nuclear.

Gen Z decided enough was enough. They stormed houses, raided mansions, and forced all the corrupt politicians—and their spoiled kids—to flee via helicopters. Yeah, literal helicopters. And every fancy car, every luxury item, every designer outfit? People realized it all came from their taxes. No wonder the rage hit critical levels.

Meanwhile, our boy WeHateTheCold is just vlogging through this madness. Suddenly, he’s the accidental journalist documenting a youth revolution in real time. His footage? Dangerous, chaotic, sometimes terrifying—but somehow inspiring, too. You’re watching Gen Z literally overthrow decades of corruption while he’s like, “Uh, am I supposed to be here?”

And the cherry on top: after kicking out the old government, the people voted in a de facto prime minister via Discord. Yes, Discord. Not kidding.

Seriously, if you want a front-row seat to history—and a reminder that spoiled politicians can’t hide forever—watch these vlogs.

Yes the revolution in Nepal has been crazy although I am not sure if some of the violence was unintended or intentional act by some anti social elements.
I read that even a few hotels were targeted.
Wife of one of my friends was in Nepal during this time and had to stay a few more days.
It was fearful and tense for the whole family.
She managed to come back after a few days once the things were more normal.
The new Prime Minister was a Supreme Court judge and studied for some time in India as well.

This movement started because of the speech of a 16 year old boy.

This is a moving and amazing story! Big changes can happen unexpectedly, and sometimes they are brought about by a generation that demands justice and accountability. Gen Z has shown that the voice of young people is truly powerful.

WeHateTheCold found herself in the middle of history, unplanned, but she became a witness to a modern revolution. It’s amazing how technology and social media can bring about big changes, even in dangerous environments.

Through her vlogs, we see courage, anger, and hope. This is a reminder that oppression cannot last forever. Young people can stand up and change the world—with their voices, with their actions, and with their solidarity.

Nepali political leaders should have learned from the experiences of peers in the region. Serves them right.

It is true that Nepal's leaders should have learned from their neighbors. Good leadership is built by listening to citizens and learning from the mistakes of others. Failure to do so can lead to unexpected chaos.

This kind of sober thinking is unfortunately aluen to most of our current political leaders. We surely have a long way to go.

The ability to loot public resources is a requirement for those seeking public office. Blame naive voters who don't love themselves.

This is not the case in all jurisdictions.

Leadership is a guarantee, not an opportunity for self-interest. Leaders should respect the citizens because they are the ones who gave them power. If citizens wake up and demand accountability, theft of public property can decrease.

Tell that to the many politicians who view citizen as mere servants.
