Myanmar had a problem with the Rohingya Muslims. That group moved to Bangladesh but they were not welcomed with open arms, initially. Later the country accepted a significant number of them but of course, the government is getting help from various international organizations because they have labeled it a “humanitarian crisis”.

China is not kind to the Uyghur population (Muslims in China) at all. Kind? They are not even tolerant! Some fled China and ended up in the United States.

They came to US? Smart choice. They get to seek asylum, set up organizations for their human rights, get US to bark at China about human rights violations, etc. (You know how righteous we Americans think we are.) Some fled to other countries but I don't know what countries will do for them.

Supposedly Uyghur Muslims in America often identify as Uyghur Americans. (I say "supposedly. I don't know for a fact because I have never met a Uyghur Muslim, even though I know they are in the USA.)

But if they can do it in America why can't they do it in China? I suspect there are other reasons more complicated than just identifying a Chinese. By the way, from what I heard the Han Chinese Muslims are a peaceful bunch and don't cause trouble. I read an article about them years ago.

Meanwhile, in the USA, a US citizen from Texas, rented a truck and drove into a crowd of people celebrating the New Year on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. Unfortunately, the truck driver got shot by police because after killing 10 people he got out of the truck and started shooting at them. So now we have to guess why he did it and if he was working with others.

SIDE NOTE: There is a group of Indians in India who look more oriental than they do Indian (they have slanted-eyes, but they say they are just as much Indian as all of the other Indians). I watched a Bollywood movie and one of the girls called the other one “Chow Mein”. It was meant to be an insult. My point is they don't look Indian. But folks in India aren't fighting about this and forcing these people to get plastic surgery to BLEND IN. Why? Because that group is not really causing trouble. Their looks are not an issue. Basically, they're like kids in school who get picked on for being different, but the government is not going to start a war over it.

Bottom line: Nothing wrong with having pride in your heritage, being proud to born American, etc. But RACISM IS STUPID!

You can choose your religious beliefs. But if your religion puts you at odds with others and you choose acts of violence, like the Texas truck driver, the matter is no longer about religion or racism. It's about SELF-DEFENSE.

I live in Texas. People have been coming across the Mexican border FOR YEARS. And they're not all Mexican! Some of them might even be Islamists.

Illegals have been slipping into America across the Canadian border, via New York, and Miami, Florida FOR YEARS. There are probably other locations. But these I know about.

But to hear Trump tell it, only the “dangerous” ones are coming in from Mexico. And if Canada becomes a US state, he'll fix their immigration problem. We are entering the "Golden Age of America". Even the Gulf of Mexico is going to be renamed to the Gulf of America.

I am not sure that is happening in American schools. There is bullying but it's usually not about religion. It's just kid being mean and nasty and picking on other kids.

They say that the kid who took a shot at Trump was a bullied kid. That was why his father took him to a shooting range to learn how to shoot.

OK. That's something to consider. The British once had control of Palestine and some folks want to blame them for what's happening between the Palestinians and Israel now. Although, I think those two groups would have been fighting with each other anyway. I'm not sure anybody can make peace between them. The Two-State Solution is never going to happen. That's like waiting for North and South Korea to reunite. In this world, some people are just going to stay divided no matter what.
