Re: Do you keep cash at home?

Postby cinderella » 26 Dec 2024, 11:54

I am using online payment apps to pay for all my bills, internet, electricity, water, Netflix subscription. So, I am not keeping big amount of cash at home. Just enough for some emergency expenses like when the apps failed and I have no other choice but to go to the physical office, back up fund for some grocery items and when I need to pay for some minor job.

I have around $10,000 in (Philippine pesos) to feel secured. There are times that we would be needing cash during an emergency and the ATM here have a limit of $1,000 withdrawal per day. Having a big amount of cash gives me peace of mind.

Cash at home learn unemployed children stealth money of their parents this is the saddest part. As everything price is raising you should if your child fails to find a job at least help you at work for a salary if this is possible and not in free mode as many parents are thinking or work for free to help relatives. This is also not a good approach.

I think keeping around $100 at home is best because in here we frequently have bank holidays and many times you will find ATM with no cash

I barely keep cash unless one of us is going to be away on a trip. Most times, it is the spouse traveling anyway. So on those days, I keep enough cash. It makes me feel secure that way for some reason.

In Botswana, we still live in the dark ages, so I always ensure I have a small amount of money in my purse for emergencies. Even in 2024 (almost 2025!) some people still prefer to take cash

It's ideal because I have seen people facing issues because they don't carry even a single note of cash.

One thing good about not having a huge amount of cash at hand is that it can also help us minimize unnecessary spending and impulse buying.

There are people that don't keep cash at home and then have to ask others for money as the person is not accepting online payments so you need to keep cash at all times
