Here is the thing, There are 14 canon Wizard of Oz books created by F.L Baum and only 4 of them gets adapted. The Wicked Witch of the West only existed in 1 book but because the 1st book keeps getting adapted, she keeps returning to the point we now Have the spin off Wicked which is her life story. There is now a Higher chance of All Wicked books get adapted into movies before all OZ books because Wicked is doing well in box office.

most movies from 1900s,The 1939 movie, The Wiz, All those cartoon movies with the Wicked witch are all adaptations and spin offs of the 1st book. Wicked, Oz the great and Powerful are prequels of the 1st books. The canceled 90s cartoon is not adaptation of the books but a fan made sequel of 1st movie.

The 2nd book was adapted as tv movie. Dorothy is not the main character but instead a Boy nammed Tippetarius, He have a mission to find the missing Princess Ozma. The twist... He is the missing Princess Ozma, a Witch cursed her as a baby and turned her into a boy. When he found out the truth, Against his will Glinda turns him back into a girl.

If you wanna watch the 2nd book it has 2 adaptations that are public domain on Youtube.

Land of Oz (1980s tv movie) I feel sorry for the boy who played Tippetarius here because he have to cross dress in the ending to be the Princess. LOL


I think the solution for adapting this is to hire an actress to play both Tippetarius and Ozma

The 1986 anime is adaptation of 1st 4 books.

By the 6th Book Dorothy lost her farm so she brought her aunt and uncle and make them live on OZ. Oz is located between Kansas,North Dakota and Nebrasca. After airplanes got invented Glinda makes a magic that makes Oz locked away from United States. Yes Oz is a missing State of the USA.


Dorothy's Nemisis is not Elphaba but Gnome King. he appeared in multiple books but he is too scary for kids so Producers are hesitant to adapt him for a movie. He is a literal Horror character.



Dorothy actually have powers, but not a violent one. She have immunity from danger.

Oz is pretty much modern and ahead of its time. It predicted holograms and bullet trains will exist

Adaptations and spin offs make them timeless and the creativity has no limit. So, it can keep selling and getting tge business.

Not just to be adapted, I hope they are able to stay true and faithful to the source material at least to some extent.

Adaptations seem like a very safe and respectful way, you give due credit to the original source and can be creative to bring some changes too. It's safe as the credit is not stolen and you are not in any legal soup.

Why I want the the remaining books to be adapted.

1. Dorothy will eventually bring her aunt and uncle to OZ and live there permanently because they will be evicted from their farm.

2.Dorothy faced more scarier villains than the wicked witch.

3. Toto the dog will learn to talk

4. OZ have other heroes aside from Dorothy
