That's good advice. Where I mainly fail is with keeping the counters clutter free. There are 4 of us and random stuff accumulates over time. I'm trying to at least get it all cleared off once a week.

The dishes aren't a problem- you can't really put off doing the dishes unless you have a lot of dishes. If I didn't do them after a meal we wouldn't have enough plates to eat off for the next meal.

I agree, air tight food containers is important, not just to keep things from going stale but to keep pests out. Another tip is when you buy a bag of flour, stick it in the freezer overnight before you put it into a sealed storage container in the pantry. That will kill any weevil eggs that might be in there.
