Planning Ahead

Postby Spontaneo » 28 May 2026, 21:45

Last night, some fellow members of Weight Loss Buddy and myself discussed food for Christmas! I have small problems.

Problem 1

I have a very small kitchen.

Problem #2

My roommate needs the Crock-Pot. She wants to prepare a ham or a turkey. I lose. I want Crock-Pot lasagna.

Problem #3

Not enough counter space for the air fryer.

Problem #4

My roommate has stomach problems. I cannot spell the illness but on any other day, she lives on applesauce, apple slices, cereal, etc.

Thus, I need to prepare chilled dishes that can be stored in the fridge. What do you think of the following?

A WLB member mentioned deviled eggs. I stink at deviled eggs, but what about egg salad tea sandwiches?

Another member mentioned banana pudding. I have never prepared pudding before. However, why not buy the already prepared in small containers?

A request that I have is for fridge dinners. Egg salad tea sandwiches and containers of banana pudding are wonderful. But what about chilled dishes that are going to really fill up the belly? What about dishes that may be prepped ahead?

Just like egg salad, what about pasta salad? I like to prepare with bow-tie, cherry tomatoes, black olives, a bottle of Italian dressing and just like my mother Rose, dashes of McCormick’s Salad Supreme!

What about taco salad? Lots and lots of sour cream with either Catalina or French! I cannot make up my mind!

Yes, potato salad is delicious, but I am not very good at it. If I can spare a few dollars, maybe I can provide store-bought?

This leads to another favorite that I have. Lunch meat sandwiches!

You may think that I am stupid, but why not? If you are poor like I am, why not?

Go to your local deli and get some pepperoni and salami, sliced thin. Then, buy some mozzarella! I love some good hard rolls. Another good option is some Italian loaves.

To top this all off? Some chips! Buy a variety.

You are going to need drinks! Would you like to know what I think would be neat? Iced coffee! Buy a bag of ice, some milk, and instant coffee! Sugar and artificial sweetener from the dollar store! No countertops needed!

Finally, what I like? With these tips, you can be yourself. You do not need to be all fancy. Heck, use paper plates, paper cups, plastic utensils, etc.

Why not party frugally this Christmas? Ho Ho Ho

if your ever making salad dishes look for Heinz Salad Sauce or If you are looking for other salad sauces, Heinz also offers a variety of popular options, including Heinz House Dressing and Heinz Honey & Mustard Dressing.
