Are You Afraid

Postby Spontaneo » 27 Feb 2026, 02:26

Are You Afraid When There Is No Electricity?

You should be prepared! Doing so doesn’t cost alot of money. Doing so doesn’t take alot of knowledge.

What do you need?

*Batteries

These may be bought at your local dollar store! Batteries are needed for almost all of the below.

*Flashlights

Keep a flashlight where may be easily found.

*Radio

A radio can keep you up to date with the weather forecast. For example, a radio can keep you up to date with school closings.

*Cellular phone

Make sure that your cellular phone is rejuvenated! If you have a phone with a cord, used such phone.

*Bottled drinks

Keep bottled water, Gatorade, Powerade, etc.

*Milk

Be prepared with shelf-stable milk!

*Food

(Have paper or styrofoam plates and cups and plastic knives ready)

Fresh fruit, bread, butter, jelly, peanut butter, pull-tab tuna, pull-tab canned chicken breast, any non-perishable food!

*Full tank of gas

I was taught this by a loved one when I was a kid.

*Sanitizer

Have hand sanitizer, moist towelettes, etc.

*First aid kit

*Medicine

Now you should not be afraid. Mama Spontaneo make it all better! ;) ;)

I don't get scared when it gets dark because I have enough batteries for the flashlight and radio. This helps me get light and important information without any worries when the power goes out suddenly.

I sure do @Fergal. Thunderstorms, winter and ice scare the heck out of myself. Rain is a different story. I find rain to be good writing weather.

Smooth rainfall indeed makes for a calm working experience.
Great for falling asleep also.

With all the rockets I see on the sky, you know, I might you lose electricity again, but it seemed like my country is not the target of Israel and Iran, but I can see their rockets.

Earlier today, I went outside to grab some lunch meat from a friend, While waiting for her, the wind was so bad that I got almost blown away! I was scared.

Tonight the wind is supposed to be over 50 MPH. I think worse. The wind is worse right now!

So, I have new batteries in my sconce in case the power goes out. Of which would scare myself. :( :(

Over here, we often go through days without electricity so I don't normally get scared in anyway.

Last night I was blessed. The electricity was out in the whole community yet my electricity stayed on. Very blessed.

Ok, I admit I hate the dark  As old as I am, it makes me feel uncomfortable, and my imagination runs away with me  It's just as well, my husband and I are always together. But we do still have an inverter backup system because we regularly have power outages. That for me is the best thing since sliced bread. When you're a freelancer, you can't afford to miss work due to power being down.

I like the rain. As a freelancer, rain is soothing and good for writing. Storms? Just the opposite! I worry and don't get anything accomplished. :( :(

Oh, rain I can get on board with because I too find it soothing. Only problem? I find it so soothing that if it goes on forever, I just want to crawl back into my bed and sleep the day away

I spoke too soon. Now we are having a snow storm and the eledctricity is flickering. Pray to the blessed virgin Mary that the power stays on. I would appreciate it!

We survived a blackout today because, you know, the war and the electricity is back. My country is not even involved with this war, but we are badly affected. I mean, I can see missiles in the sky, but, you know, we're not getting hit because we're not the target of the two sides in war.

I think you should laud your power utility company for setting in place robust systems.
