How Writers Can Get Rejuvenated
We all need to get away for a while, even writers. The following are some tips:
The library has air conditioning during the summer and heat during the winter. Quiet. Tables, chairs and even some have private rooms that you can reserve.
A friend’s place just might be perfect for having people to talk to for a day or 2, maybe over a weekend and having drinks.
A cafe is like having coffee in your living. Comfy chairs and couches. The aroma of coffee is enticing.
A restaurant is good either way. Some are expensive and some are inexpensive. A win-win situation.
A change of scenery in your house or apartment, especially if small. If you usually work in a certain spot, move to another room such as the living or kitchen.
Live like the Danish with which they call hygge which is how they live during their dreary winters. Cuddle up with a warm blanket and a pillow with a cup of coffee. String lights up. Cook comfort meals and invite loved ones over.
Cheap hotels are nice to stay at, especially with your man, to get some quality moments together.
Thrift stores are cute to shop in to find writing-related treats. How about a pair of comfy jammies to wear when you write? A coffee maker? A few unique coffee cups? A Crock-Pot to do the cooking while you write? A good used desk chair (hey, most writers are sedentary, so one obviously should have a comfy seat).
Attending Midnight Mass can be so soothing. I used to play the organ for a church. Enemies and friends alike gathered for one night.
How about something for luck? I personally have 2 robes that I call my “writing robes”. I have a “lucky pen” that I keep losing! The pen is grey and bronze with my landlord’s business logo.
Do some exercise. I personally would like to take up tai chi. However, I cannot seem to find enough minutes in the day to do such.
Take a charter bus and travel wherever you like. I personally would love to take a charter bus to Canada and stay at a quaint cottage. I doubt if I would ever leave the United States though.
So, these are my tips. No bullshit.
Happy Writing and one more tip… the holidays are coming. Happy Thanksgiving. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year.
