Common Things That The Most Intelligent Don't Understand

Postby Spontaneo » 29 Sep 2025, 02:20

There are common things that the most intelligent people do not understand. For example, do you have to do things the hard way, having studied from books or do things just come natural to you?

The following are a few examples of how, not to put you down, but you do not understand common things:

1.Get the coffee maker prepared the night before!

What is the first thing that you sprint toward in the morning? Most people want their coffee even before they brush their teeth!

2.Have a command station in your house!

At an entrance to your house, have a place for shoes, coats, jackets, keys, etc.!

3.Buy a clock without a snooze button!

Are you hard to get up in the morning? Don’t tempt yourself with a snooze!

4.Have meals together as a family!

People can bond at meals, whether at home or at a restaurant!

5.Make the kids ride the school bus!

Allow kids to get along with other kids!

6.Have the kids do their chores!

Even if you are wealthy, chores teach responsibility!
7.Wear second-hand clothes!

Years ago, people had to wear clothes in them because they had to. Now? Clothes with holes are the rage!

8.Don’t use an air conditioner!

Open up your windows and use fans!

9.Have a few flashlights with good batteries year-round!

Having a storm and late at night? Flashlights with good batteries are important!

10.Don’t build or buy a house on a steep hill or in a flood zone!

If you live way up high, how do you expect to get down in the winter? If you live way down low, what are you going to do if your house gets flooded?

11.Stock your pantry in case of a power outage!

Store canned goods, bottled water, etc.!

Have I made any sense? LOL Personally, I am not intelligent, lack common sense and have to read. A triple whammy. How about you? Many people have to work and not get to go to school. Many people have to rely on their children to get things accomplished. My parents spoiled myself. I did learn some of the above by living with my family. In other words, loved ones 101.

Finally, I would love to know your favorite “common thing” in a reply below! Do you have common sense or are you an intelligent?

Quite well listed. While I am a "Doer" of many things, I am not fond of shouting at kids often.
Sometimes one has to do, when they are leaving many things to us parents to do.

In a flood zone I understand (we've had a lot of flooding here in the past few years, though people don't always have a choice because those areas are the cheapest places to buy and some people can't afford any better) but why not on a steep hill? I live on a hill now and I grew up in a house on a hill that was even steeper. It's not easy to walk up but you get used to it and it's good exercise. At least we know we'll never have to worry about flooding, and we get cool breezes that you miss down on the flat land.

Those are good ideas re. emergency prep. It's good to have a battery powered or windup radio as well so you can get news updates (eg. when the power might be back on and whether the storm is going to get worse, roads that might be flooded out etc.).

Mine walk to and from school. We're lucky that we found a house that's close enough that they can do that. Bus is a good option if you can do that. Parking at school looks like a nightmare, much too crowded!

I walked to school myself. It's good exercise if it's not too far.

I lived out in the country. One of the first to be picked up and one of the last to be dropped off.

This list is a local fire! There are people with degrees but they can't put the keys in a permanent place. Common sense is like a muscle. You have to work on it every day.

I like the stocking pantry. Food and water are basics, especially if you live in a place where blackouts are common. Intelligence is cool, but without common sense, life is hard. Hope lies in learning and practicing the local.

Definitely do not spare children from household chores. Even if you have a lot of money, small tasks prepare children for tomorrow's life. Everything has a beginning, even a king began by ruling the village.

Make a child sew his clothes and clean his room when he is an adult and he will thank you. Make chores a part of their life from childhood. Your neighborhood is known for its children. Children are used to being dedicated and responsible. At the end of the day, you will be proud of you as a parent and he will continue to be a better person.
