House a Mess?

Postby Spontaneo » 30 Aug 2025, 22:31

Does Your House Need Decluttered?

Getting your house tidy is simple! As Clutterbug would say, “5-minute tidy-ups”. You can learn more about her below.

Get 3 huge bags or boxes. In each, designate 1 for each of the following:

*Donate

This is especially good to do for the Salvation Army. If you cannot drive there to drop off your donations, call them and they will personally drive to your home.

Last summer, I went yard sale shopping for Christmas gifts to donate to my church for Christmas. I spent $100.00. Guess what my priest told myself to do? He told myself to go to the Salvation Army. I ended up keeping these gifts for myself. A few of the gifts were a Keurig, a Crock-Pot, an air fryer, a duo coffee maker, clothes, etc.

*Keep

Go through your closet and see what clothes that you want and do not want. With the clothes that you still want, make up new outfits! With the clothes that you do not want, either do above and donate or do below and toss.

*Trash

Is there just stuff that needs to go?

For each room in your house, give yourself 5-minutes to fill the bags or boxes.

Just yesterday, for example, I was in my kitchen and knew a former roommate had tucked away some food that I could not reach. She is tall and I am 5 ft 1. Sure enough, I got up high and reached some oriental rice that was outdated in 2021, microwave mac and cheese bowl in 2021, etc. I found a water bottle that I have now claimed. I think that it is a 64 ounce bottle. Perfect for my diet.

Anyway, all that you need are a few moments every day to do this!

Below is a YouTube video for a quick lesson!

I, personally, have alot ahead of myself. I tore my closet apart a couple of days ago looking for something. My bedroom office is a total mess. I live near a thrift store that accepts donations and the thrift store gives you part of the profits when your items are sold. So, over the next few days, I am going to fill bags and boxes to donate and even earn a little money.

Maybe search your town or city for a similar thrift store?

I hope you have much success!

Nieces are currently around for the holidays. They came in on Saturday evening so they have literally been around for a full day just on sunday and the whole place is a mess.

A Chinese proverb says that if you plant good seeds, the harvest will last, so if you organize your closet well, you will live a clean and organized life.

I don't like hoarding and try not to hang onto things I don't need for longer than I need to. However, because I live in a small flat (that I hate), I feel like my space tends to look cluttered. I can't wait to find a bigger property to move to.

I completely understand that vibe of living in a small flat is like a ninja being squeezed into a small dojo. Everything looks cluttered even if you don't have a lot of stuff. You know that feeling of sakura petals falling everywhere with no clean space and it makes you tired. But when you find a big spot, it's like a bullet train running without stopping. You get fresh air and a fresh flow of life. When you're well organized, that move will be like a samurai finding a new dojo with clean space.
