Self-care does not mean an expensive spa getaway. Just take a few deep breaths on a stressful day. Self-care can be as simple, easy and as totally free as you want it to be!

Organize your home so that you feel calm when you are alone. Whenever my house is immaculate, nobody shows up. When my house is a wreck? People always show up! So, I just pretend that I am impressing myself and that I am important. There is a lady on YouTube called Clutterbug who teaches on doing 5-minute tidy-ups.
Get more sleep.
Munch on fresh fruit. Personally, I like vegetables better.
Be a hug monster! Doing so lessens pain, depression and anxiety. I like the motto: Hugs Not Drugs!
Drink spa water (also known as fruit-infused water). Cucumber is the best! I love cucumber water! Yes, they sell fruit-infused water bottles but if you do not have a fruit-infused water bottle or cannot afford, just grab a jar or nice-sized glass, fill with chilled water and plop in some pieces of cucumber! Use a straw too!
Count your blessings. Every day I pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede for my loved ones and myself.
Text a friend. Personally, last night, a good friend told myself to text whenever I want. That made myself feel good and loved!
Do a pedicure. I have always wanted a professional pedicure. I always ask my podiatrist to make my toenails pretty but he chops my toenails up. Men. I wonder if my insurance would cover pedicures? I hope so!
Play your favorite song. I have 2 favorites. #1 is “Saying Something Stupid” by Sinatra and #2 “It’s A Beautiful Day” by U2.
Drink tea. No, tea does not dehydrate you. Tea counts as your daily water intake! They always say that green tea is the best, but I prefer black, especially black iced tea!
Buy a neat journal and write down what made your day every day. I need to take up this suggestion. I only buy legal pads for note-taking. They usually say to write down the bad things that happen every day.
Clear out clutter. Donate what you do not want!
Book a girlfriend night and laugh. Doing so releases endorphins! The closest thing to a girlfriend night out that I get is late-night grocery shopping with my roommate!
Take a course in something new. Personally, my education is in Political Science and in Fitness and Nutrition. I really want to take up Aromatherapy. I just do not know.
Create a mantra. I have had the same personal mantra for years. My mantra is “You Only Grow Old If You Want To”!
Are they that hard? You do not even need coupons!
