Non-Alcoholic Versions Of Booze

Postby Spontaneo » 21 Jan 2025, 04:25

Yes, I really do not drink anymore. Therefore, I really do not think to browse the booze section of the local grocery store.

But just a minute or 2 ago, I thought to myself, what about the non-alcoholic?

I simply prepare smoothies, protein shakes and mocktails and never think to buy non-alcoholic versions of booze!

Do you buy non-alcoholic versions of booze? Are such drinks expensive? Where do you buy?

I drink non alcoholic beer and wine fairly often. I buy them at the supermarket.

There are lots of nice non alcoholic drinks out there to choose from. I don't drink and it has been that way for years.

What flavor of non-alcoholic wine do you like the best?

I don't drink much alcohol either, only on special occasions.
I never bought non-alcoholic booze, never felt the need. Then I'm like you, I don't recall seeing such drinks because I don't visit that section often. Our country has a special tax for alcohol. I doubt the non-alcoholic versions are cheaper, but I doubt they're more expensive than the normal kind.

Do you think buying a bottle of non-alcoholic wine as a present for an alcoholic is good or bad?

Sounds like a bad idea to me, alcoholics struggle with drink every day, even those who have been off it for years. I'd suggest buying them something else, and if it is a food item check to ensure it doesn't even have a trace of alcohol in it.

Thank you @Fergal. When I worked at a cafe, we sold solely coffee, no fancy coffee. I personally love mocktails. So, I thought that customers might be attracted to mocktails. I asked my supervisor if I may serve mocktails. She said no as she felt mocktails would be a trigger for alcoholics.

I wouldn't do that unless you happen to know that they like non alcoholic wine. For some alcoholics something that looks like an alcoholic drink would be an unpleasant reminder.

For New Year's Eve, I prepared and served a mocktail called "grape ale" which she really liked. Such mocktail is ginger ale mixed with grape soft drink.

So, I might simply prepare her some "grape ale".
