They are not endagered species but they die whenever water hydrants are used. Here is the thing,Yes they will die but they wont be instinct as fires dont happen everyday. The governor also loves this fish for some reason and decided to protect it.
You can't blame vegans for this.

Firstly, a lack of water in hydrants is obviously not what STARTED the fires. It's just part of the reason they had trouble putting them out. Secondly, there wasn't literally NO water in the hydrants. There was water (3 million gallons of it), but they ran dry because the system was overstressed. It's not supposed to cope with that much demand- it's for fighting one or two houses at a time on fire, not hundreds of them.
The thing about the Delta Smelt was put about by Trump. Spreading false information during a crisis is kinda his thing.
'“People are literally fleeing. People have lost their lives. Kids lost their schools. Families completely torn asunder. Churches burned down. And this guy wanted to politicize it,” Newsom said of Trump on CNN. He contrasted the former president’s accusations with President Joe Biden standing by the devastated communities.'
It's kinda your thing too. Maybe check stuff before you post it.
https://time.com/7205670/dry-fire-hydrants-southern-california-la-fires/Re. the Delta smelt, here is an article if you actually want to know why people wanted to protect them. Literally no mention is made of vegans. It's about protecting the ecosystem, and also the fishing industry.
"So why do they continue to fight? Because it’s not just the smelt that are suffering. It’s also the salmon and the killer whales and the whole ecosystem in the delta. If the smelt go, and California does nothing to their water management systems, the salmon and killer whales might be next to go, hurting the fishing industries in the process. "
