THE VIRTUAL WORLD HAS TAKEN OVER

THE VIRTUAL WORLD HAS TAKEN OVER

Day by day I notice the world is becoming virtual

I have a garden and by all standards it does call for appreciation. In the real world I see visitors going past the garden as though they have worn blinkers but when I post images and talk about my garden in the virtual world I get appreciation and positive comments with lengthy interactions.
I wonder those who appreciate my garden in the virtual world would walk past if they saw a great garden in their real world as though they have worn blinkers?

My neighbor who lives across will ignore me if she sees me standing at the gate but she has sent me a friend’s request on Face Book!!

There is hardly anyone who visits each other these days but at an organized virtual zoom meeting their presence out there will be one hundred percent.

Why are people shy of meeting each other face to face but quite ready to have lengthy interactions online? This is not just where people are strangers to each other such as at writing sites that pay, but friends and relative also resort to this method.

Some go virtual where they get to pour out their woes with strangers which they cannot do with people who they know and perhaps this is understandable.

When it comes to face to face meetings that happens if there is an event in the family They need a crowd for celebrating the event and that is when friends and relatives are invited.
One also sees people at funerals with wreathes but I am sure they have never visited the dead person when they were alive. I was watching a video of a funeral event where there were hundreds of “mourners” and I know none ever bothered to visit when the person was sick and dying

Will the scenario ever change? Will people realize personal contacts are healthy and keep one another united through thick and thin!? Are there exceptions to this rule and there could still be some who believe in face to face interactions, visiting each others, inquiring about each other’s wellbeing creating an atmosphere of camaraderie?

As a kid I remember how close we were with neighbours helping each other, visiting each other and the children getting together during holidays spending time together playng and having fun. Will this scenario ever return?

I SEE NO HOPES.

This 'disease' seems to have spread far and wide. Let alone online interaction some have given up connecting with email as they find it more convenient to do that using What'sApp

AI needs a topic by itself to talk of the disaster it has spelt in terms of blocking people's brain leading to diseases such as alzeimer's, amnesia .....

That really is very sad, people are becoming more socially awkward. Direct face to face contact is very healthy and brings tremendous benefits to our well being. The fact that many more of us are working behind desks from home now, definitely doesn't help the situation.

I do not think this scenario will change, sadly The only time they meet is at funerals and weddings.

Where do you get that from? Is there any evidence of it? Alzheimer's has been around for a long time, long before AI, and is genetic.

I agree, that is sad. I'm glad I see my neighbours and talk to them face to face. However, I do find social media great for keeping in touch with people I otherwise couldn't since they live too far away. The distances are pretty big here in Australia, so if a friend moves to another city it can be a long way to visit them, but at least this way we can chat and share photos.

I agree. Not much research is done but here and there one talks about it If the brain is not used and one takes advantage of ready reckoners that could lead to brain dormancy. I picked the following from the Net.
"Neurologists report that mental exercise can reduce your chance of developing Alzheimer's disease by up to 70%. With numbers like that, it's amazing that everyone isn't exercising their brains more often. Get a head start by spending at least 20 minutes, three times a week doing mental exercises."

I remember reading about Facebook some years ago, one point that stuck in my mind went something like this: if you use Facebook to arrange to meet up with your friends to play a game of football, that's a good use of Facebook, if you use Facebook instead of meeting up with your friends for a game of football, that's a bad use of Facebook.

The difference as I see it is it is good if one uses Face Book to arrange an off line meeting :D

Sure, but it's a bit of a long bow to draw to say that AI leads to "mental dormancy". AI is used for a lot of different things, and using it for some things doesn't mean the person who uses it doesn't use their brain at all. Lots of things are good for helping prevent dementia, like playing games and puzzles, creating art and music, reading and just any kind of social interaction. AI is a lot way off replacing all of those things.

There is no denying that AI is useful in many areas but human beings will use it where it is not necessary and should not. There is this Deepfake you must have heard about and using it as I have said to produce ready made articles thereby giving the brain the rest that is not recommended..

People are like that. No basically virtual but ways people add in them selves.. They prefer isolation in real words and cooperation in the virtual one. Way to go.

That's laziness in journalists and content writers. It's wrong because it produces crappy content for the most part, but it just doesn't follow that using it that way will harm your brain. It depends what you are doing with the spare time it saved you.
