Tips For Keeping a Healthy Social Life

Postby Danny B. » 30 May 2023, 00:06

The world of today is slowly driving people away from a healthy social life. Technology continues to advance and create diverse forms of entertainment. In order to keep your mental health, it is important that you manage to keep in touch with people. It might seem odd, but with the rise of AI the social distance between people is likely to increase.

1. Learn to play a new instrument

Musical instruments can lead to important social connections. If you already have musician friends that's a great way to start. You can make your learning process much more fun and even learn faster. Maybe you can join a band or group and manage to play together, or simply play as a hobby on ocasional social meetings.

2. Practice regular walking around the neighborhood

It may sound simple, but the practice of just walking around can lead to unexpected encounters. You might stumble accross an interesting event or group of people that may lead to new social connections. Maybe you'll find hidden spots in your city that you never heard about, and you may find new opportunities of being useful to your neighborhood.

3. Search for volunteering opportunities

Volunteering is an amazing way to feel useful and create bonds with new people. Helping others is something very important to our mental health and to develop a sense of human responsibility. Sometimes we get too worried about our own problems, and simply forget that we can be the solution to other people's problem. The hindu religions teach that all good we do to others will come back to us in the future. This is how we can build a strong community.

4. Learn a new language

If your city has a lot of foreigners, it might be an opportunity to learn a new language. Besides the ability to comunicate with them, you may also learn about a different culture and even find new opportunities in life. You might travel to another country already knowing something about their culture and how to ask for help when you need it. Sometimes foreigners can open a whole new world of meaningful experiences for us.

Conclusion

Use your creativity to keep improving the way you interact with people. Machines can be very useful, but we must always be vigilant to not let them occupy the place in our lives destined to interaction with other people. Remember that people are unique and cannot be replaced.

It is very important indeed to keep interacting with people. Gadgets and machines may be so enjoyable to use and take so much attention. But they don't fill up that feeling of loneliness the way people do. So as you strive to adopt technology fully, don't forget to also interact with people.

Good stuff! I have to laugh at myself. Number 2 and 4? I keep saying I'm gonna do it! Every year it's on my list of New Year's Resolutions.

What's wrong with me?
It's not like if I think about it or put it on a list that will make it happen!
But anyway! Looking forward to 2024.

Good
Learning a new instrument is what I am doing at the moment than later I will be walking around the neighborhood and as for research I do that everyday which means I am following through the things you just mentioned here even before me reading them.

These are all very good tips but I only really do one: walking around my housing estate. I wish I could volunteer, but I hardly have the time, and I'm already feeling knackered from all my jobs  I'm kind of learning Spanish here and there because I teach Spanish students. Love the language <3

That is the only one I do as well, I would love to be a volunteer in the animal shelter near my place but my free time si so short that not even for my things I have time. Sometimes I think it is a matter od time management but, or i am doing everything wrong or my time is really short.
