The future of basketball

Postby Netherrealmer » 24 Apr 2023, 22:43

In recent years, the sports business has used technology to boost revenue streams, relying on the continuous popularity of sports among fans throughout the world. Despite concerns about the increasing commercialization of sports and the apparent "dumbing down" of society, sports remains a multibillion-dollar industry with significant revenue from a variety of sources.

Game tickets are a major source of revenue in sports, with millions of fans traveling to stadiums and arenas around the world to cheer on their favorite teams and athletes. However, with the increasing digitization of the sports sector, new revenue streams that go beyond game tickets have arisen. For sports clubs and leagues, merchandise, such as jerseys, hats, and other branded items, is a substantial source of revenue.Merchandise, for instance, is a significant source of revenue for sports teams and leagues, with fans purchasing jerseys, hats, and other branded items to show their support.

Pay-per-view (PPV) fees are another revenue stream that has grown in importance in recent years. With the advent of streaming platforms and the collapse of traditional cable television, sports leagues and teams are turning to pay-per-view (PPV) to provide fans with a means to watch games and matches online. PPV money has proven to be a profitable source of income, with some of the world's largest athletic events alone generating hundreds of millions of dollars in PPV revenue.

Despite concerns about the monetization of sports and the impact of technology on our society, the sports industry is clearly a tremendously profitable operation. As long as there are people willing to watch athletes compete, and as long as technology continues to offer new revenue opportunities, the sports industry will continue to thrive and grow.

The future of Basketball

Self Lacing shoes-Remember the Self lacing shoes from Back to the Future II movie? Well they finally exists and NBA players are now wearing them. It got invented 4 years ago and NBA players had been playing basketball while wearing them. These specialized 3d printed shows that uses self lacing technology improves the performances of athletes and also gives them comfort. Nike is currently trying to make it more affordable for the regular people.

3d printed balls-

Most Basketballs are glorified Balloons. They need air to stay inflated and if they got a hole they will be ruined. Well with the 3d printed technology, Wilson created a 3d printed ball that doesn't need air. In Fact this ball have holes. Wilson 3d printed balls are created via 3d printers. These airless basketballs are more durable and dynamic despite of having lots of holes.

Virtual front seat courtside seat for basketball games-

Courtside tickets for basketball games is expensive. So NBA is now trying to make it affordable at the comfort of your home. Using VR goggles you can watch NBA games live in the front seat of the courtside.

One of the Predicted sports in the future will be Martian Basketball- Once humans settled on Mars, The Basketball games there will be crazier. The lighter gravity means the Basketball players will be jumping and dunking higher than here on earth. The Basketball players will look like they are flying once we have Basketball courts on Mars.

I also noticed that some kiddies and even adults are so into playing sports virtually. They are not into playing them physically now. It seems very alarming that they are in this state recently.

I am a bigger fan for basketball. During my schooling days I played basketball nicely. However after school the talent died off like that. I however watch live bake matches in my locality and on the TV too.

You will never replace the physical ability of superstar basketball players with artificial means.

I think basketball will stay but esport will have future and more more clubs will have stronger esport team than regular team. Including basketball. Probably sport will stay just as necesary thing to stay healthy but real sport will become virtual one.

I just hope they will not repeat scene with drone as camera like in last Boston vs Philadelphia game. It was so annoying and loud. It was all time in main scene and had so bad camera.

Technology and it's advancements will not spare any area and sports is not an exception. As such these days, I see more young people into virtual screen games than the actual physical game.
I liked the idea of self lacing shoes. It's fascinating. I hope that Nike makes it affordable for regular people soon. I want one.

I guess it will not be good have some interplanet league since conditons are not same. Maybe some universal version jumps out. E-sport league will definitely be active.

I played basketball when I was in high school, this is not a very popular sport in my home country. Basketball is not even included in national sports tournaments.
