You Are Not Going To Wake Up With A Stranger

Postby Spontaneo » 18 Mar 2023, 23:24

Do I love to drink alcoholic beverages? Well, sure I do.

When growing up, my loved ones and I would go to a local bar on pay day on Fridays. They would get fish. I would get pizza… and a Jack and Coke.

On New Year’s, my family allowed me a High Ball.

I know what they were doing. They were teaching me to drink responsibly.

1. Drink in moderation
2. Eat something while you are drinking
3. Don’t drive

Fast forward a couple of decades.

I moved away from home and got roommates.

The roommates cannot drink alcohol.

I could not afford the habit anyway.

That is when my love of mocktails came along!

drinks-2578446_640.jpg

Safe. Delicious. Affordable.

They taste like the real thing! For example, one evening, I prepared some mocktails for my roommates and a friend. A roommate said to me, “I feel woozy” and “What is in this”!

My favorites are:

*New York Egg Cream

Milk, chocolate syrup and seltzer

When I am craving alcohol, I drink an New York Egg Cream and the urge disappears.

*Virgin Whisky

Root beer and Mountain Dew

I use diet Mountain Dew to decrease the sugar.

*Orange Julius

Orange juice, milk and vanilla extract

Reminds me of younger days, shopping at Malls.

*Arnold Palmer

Half lemonade and half iced tea

The best of both worlds!

*Grape Ale

Grape juice and ginger ale

I have not prepared this recipe for myself yet. I know that I am going to love it though as I love grape juice AND ginger ale.

For almost all of these mocktails, the ingredients may be found at your local dollar store!

Any party can have a mocktail theme! Why not throw one? Anniversary. Graduation. Wedding. Baby shower. Use your imagination!
Why are mocktails so good? They are good for:

Designated drivers
Pregnant women
Kid-friendly for those wanting to be “grown-up” too
Alcoholics

A roommate wanted me to write down all of my mocktail recipes for her birthday this past March 13th! Whew! That is alot of writing. I ended up finding a used mocktail cookbook on eBay for $4.00 with 200 mocktail recipes! I bought that baby and she loves it!

Just think… You are not going to have a splitting headache in the morning. Unless you are married, you are not going to wake up with a stranger.

So…

Be happy. Be healthy. Be safe.

I just keep it simple and have a Diet Coke, but my wife absolutely loves Mock Pina Colada's.

Working on a New Side-Hustle

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

I drink alcohol and have never woken up with a stranger. Moderation's the key.

I do enjoy non alcoholic drinks these days though, and mocktails make it more fun. I try to only drink alcohol a few nights a week (like on a Friday after work, or if I go out on a Saturday).

I have been craving a Diet Dr. Pepper.

Maybe it is the urge for wanting a Flaming Dr. Pepper?

If so, I can make myself a Dirty Dr. Pepper if the ingredients are on sale this week. The recipe calls for Dr. Pepper, half and half and coconut syrup. Tastes really delicious.

I have been drinking so much water. I would love to atleast treat myself. Yes? If anything, a simple Diet Dr. Pepper is going to satisfy.

I simply fell in love with mocktails.

I went shopping today. There were no good deals on Dr. Pepper. So, I could not have a Dirty Dr. Pepper.

I did buy zero sugar ginger ale. The grape juice was out of my league or I could have made Grape Ale.

Mocktails are a simple treat.

I challenge you to go to a bar and ask the bartender to make you a mocktail!

A lot of interesting observations regarding Mocktails here!
I think I might have had a few mocktails during my Team lunches and dinners but well, that is not very frequent for me.
So well, I can try to remember a few of the points you mentioned here.

There are many people in my life who love alchol.
But, I don't take soft drinks too, because they may decay our teeth.. Many people are having decayed tooth just because they are not taking care of their teeth. You know it is very painful to have pain in teeth.

This is the best Dirty Diet Coke recipe that I have ever found! The most frugal to top things off! Most others call for expensive coconut syrups and squeeze actual lemons. I hope that you like!

I don't drink.
I recommend to not drive while they are drunk to my friends too.
It is not safe to drive while you are drunk. We should not forget that our family is also waiting and they have some expectations like we would act responsibily.
Thank you for the good post.

Sorry for the typo! I said lemons but meant limes!

I take alcohol too but I'm on break now. It's always good to drink responsibly. I always ask myself why people drink so much without thinking about thier health. I love mocktails too. But hey alcohol isn't bad, you just don't have to drink a lot of it.

Some interesting points there. Well, I am not into any kimd of alcoholic beverages. I can't withstand them, could never develop a taste for them. My husband loves to have a couple of drinks on Friday night and he has those exclusive expensive collections in his bar. I give him company with my fresh orange juice, lemonade or my favourite tender coconut water.

My favorite orange juice has pulp. However, these days, I cannot find orange juice with pulp anywhere. All stores carry pulp free near me.

Lemonade is delicious! It sure is! I especially love Arnold Palmers which are one part lemonade and one part iced tea,.

I drink too, although I'm now taking a vacation. Always practice responsible drinking. Why do individuals drink so much without considering their health is a question I ask myself frequently. I also enjoy mocktails. However, alcohol isn't necessarily harmful; you just shouldn't consume a lot of it.

Growing up, my family taught me to drink responsibly - in moderation, with food, and without driving. Now, I enjoy mocktails since my roommates can't drink and I can't afford alcohol.

This evening, I found this mocktail for my mocktail team on myfitnesspal.com. The drink reminds me of a Pina Colada! However, the drink is called a Pineapple Coconut Spritzer! All ingredients may be found at the dollar store! Even Dollar Tree!

Easy to find ingredients, inexpensive ingredients, easy to prepare and delicious!
