Personally, I feel that companionship is necessary for survival. Babies need it. Adults need it. Even a simple hug can mean the world.
Below are ways to give companionship. Most of the ways are free to give. Won’t you take a peek?
#1 Taking them to the grocery store
I would appreciate it so much when my mother would take me to the stores. We would bond so much. She liked the good stuff. I wanted the cheap stuff. We would comically disagree!
2. Watching television with them
I rarely watch television, but when I would visit my loved ones, the television was on alot. So, whether the news or game shows, I would watch with them.
3. Listening to music with them
Every Sunday, while preparing dinner and while having dinner, my mother would play music. For example, Bobby Vinton.
4. Giving them a present
Why not buy them a flower so that they make think of you while you are away?
5. Doing a craft together
Do adult coloring. This is scientifically proven to ease stress.
6. Cooking with them
Let them teach you a recipe. You teach them a recipe. A win-win situation!
7. Taking them to church
Maybe they cannot drive to church.
8. Having drinks together
Whether over coffee, wine or beer, etc., have drinks on certain days or evenings and talk away!
9. Playing cards with them. Playing board games with them
Games can stimulate your mind!
10. Fix their hair
My mother would ask me late at night to play with her hair. She always said that it relaxed her. So, I would get out the curling iron and pick and play hairdresser.
11. Do their makeup
As much as my mother disliked, I just had to fix her makeup! I like the dramatic look when it comes to applying makeup. Anyway, I think that she looked beautiful.
12. Help them with their homework
When I was in high school, I had to take up a foreign language. I would have to bring home Spanish dialogue to practice. So, guess who my dialogue partner was? You guessed it! My mother!
13. Help them with their medicine
Maybe your companion has confusing medicine., as this can often be a problem.
14. Celebrate their birthday
Is their birthday often forgotten? Bake them a cake!
15. Have them over for the holidays
Are you going to have a ton of food and drink at your house for the holidays? Invite them!
16. Finally, make sure to wear face masks and sanitize your hands!
What do most of these cost you? Not a dime.
Joyce Meyer often says that if you are ever in a funk, to do something good for someone else and you can automatically feel better.
I guess that you can call these Random Acts of Kindness. Maybe even Pay It Forward.
I hope this list helps you!
