We all like presents. For special occasions, have you ever thought of requesting office supplies as presents? For example, for your birthday, Christmas, university graduation, first job, etc. Then, have you yourself thought of giving such presents to fellow family and friends in the writing business?
I have made a list of useful items to request or give:
legal pads
---I personally use legal pads for work. Somehow I seem to concentrate better with legal pads.
memo pads
---These are good for keeping track of passwords.
notebooks
---These are good if used to college wide rule.
post-it notes
---These are good if reading a book and wanting to remember a part of.
black pens
blue pens
---Both are good for writing anything.
highlighters
---Self-explanatory. Highlight what you do not want to forget. Personally, I prefer neon yellow.
sharpies
---Is a poster needed?
paper clips
---Keep important documents together.
kitchen timer
---Keep track of minutes to know when to take breaks.
white noise
---Turn on a fan or log in on YouTube for "big box fan" noise for better concentration.
food
---stash some granola bars, candy bars, popcorn, lunch meat sandwiches, etc. in your work area.
coffee
---Make yourself a small Keurig station or coffee maker station in your work area.
lamp
---Make sure you have good lighting so that you don't ruin your eyesight.
stapler
---Keep documents neatly together.
hand lotion
---With so much hand sanitizer these days, our hands are very dry. Keep a small bottle of hand lotion on the side.
essential oil diffuser
---Keep your work area peaceful with a wonderful smell.
photos
posterslowerr
---Whether photos of loved ones or posters with pretty scenes, make your work area peaceful.
flowers
---Go to the local Dollar Tree and buy yourself craft supplies for DIY flower vases. There are tutorials on YouTube.
pajamas
---You are not going to need a suit for your job. Invest in some dollar store jammies and be comfortable all day and night.
printer ink
---Printer ink is so expensive yet buying Xerox copies at the library is just as expensive. A gift of printer ink would be awesome.
This article is kind-of like a self-help for writers. This article tells you how to help that writer in your life... what they need to be succesful and how they can afford their craft.
Thank you for reading and write on!
