Pop I subscribed to these streaming services because you don't have to

Postby Netherrealmer » 18 Nov 2021, 02:19

Right Now Netflix reigns supreme when it comes to streaming services. So I decided to try the other streaming services and I even used VPN so they cannot block me if their service is not available in my country. I decided to do this so I can tell you if they are worth it or not. I will not mention streaming services like Hulu because it blocks everything outside the US. Not even a VPN will work.

WeTv= Their Library is consisted of nothing but Asian shows from China,Taiwan, Japan,South Korea, Philippines and Thailand. Unlike Netflix there is no dub option everything have English subs.

The subscription is like $1.25 US a month and $11 a year. I do love Asian content but they are very limited.

Discovery Plus-They have an offer for new members that the first year will cause around $3 in your first year, Yes the whole year but after that year it is $3 a month. So the first year is like 97% free. Their content is nothing but Documentaries and Reality shows. No scripted television and no movies.I am considering to take their $3 first year then cancel on the second year. You can get educational Discovery Channel and National Geographic documentaries and trashy reality shows like 90 day fiance and My Pregnant Husband

Pureflix- For 11 Dollars a month, you can now watch sex free, gore free Christian movies and television. Be inspired as you see Christian characters defeat evil Atheists villains like Netherrealmer... No Nudity, No sex but there is some violence because how can you demonize non believers if there is no violence? If you like your watching experience felt like sugar free vegan Vanilla Ice cream, This service is for you.

Crunchyroll This one is better than WeTV, It has Asian content and Anime! It even have original Anime series and made Anime adaptations of Korean Webcomics. I love Anime so I loved this service but I am sure the Baby Boomer members here are not into it. What I love about Crunchy Roll is its the only streaming service where I can comment on the shows after watching. It has a comment section. You can actually watch Crunchy roll for free but you will get Ads, Premium memberships will give you access to premium shows. 1 month subscription to Crunchy roll is $9.99 while Yearly subscription is $79.99.\

Amazon Prime-
They charge me $6.00 per month. They have a huge library of movies, shows and originals. You can earn money watching their originals if you stream it on twitch and make a watch party. I feel confident watching their originals more than Netflix because they have less chances of cancelling a show. Their shows have higher survival rate. If you are a parent of a child, You may not like this since most of their content are not kid friendly. They are more marketed to edgelords like me.

Disney Plus-
This Platform charges 6 dollars a month but recent cinematic movies are not free for subscribers. You have to rent them for 10 dollars. Every 2 year old Disney movie or older are guaranteed to be free. After purchasing Fox, The library of Disney Plus is huge.I just hate that recent cinematic movies are not free. You can binge watch whole movie franchises and cinematic Universes with this one. They have low cancellation rate for their originals. They also have older 90s shows if you feel nostalgic. Hulu, fox and ABC content are added to their roster outsider the USA

One of my kids had Amazon Prime but she stopped. Another one of my kids had Hulu, but dropped it to sign up for Disney Plus. One of my kids pay for the Netflix subscription for me. I have the Amazon Fire TV and I download apps that let me watch stuff for free! They have hundred of apps!

Amazon is my favorite at this moment because they never canceled shows I like by far and aside from movies and tv, I can also listen to audio books. Disney Plus have a big library but new movies will be for rental on their first few months.

You can utilise the Parental Controls for Prime Video. The kids library is definitely not as huge as the rest of it but they've organised it in sections for big kids and little kids. I'm on Clifford now so you know what group I fall under.

Thanks for the info and for doing this experiment! I didn't know every platform on the list. Have you tried HBO Go? They have a good selection and it isn't very expensive, though it is not the most user-friendly site - it never really remembers what I watch.

In HBO Go or Hbo Max I highly recommend the show Warrior. Warrior is a script Bruce Lee wrote back in the 1970s that Hollywood rejected. Decades later, his daughter Shannon, found the script on the ceiling and she decided to turn it into a tv show.

I would sit back, relax and watch the life streaming. It has been very interesting and the subscription is cheap too.

I had a panic attack today. For some reason, the Internet disconnected from my Amazon Fire TV. I play the TV a lot. I rebooted several times. It did not work. I actually thought I had broken something. But my daughter fixed it. SO I'm streaming again! YAY! :D

I haven't tried that one but it has a lot of documentaries if that is your Jam. It is very similar to Discovery Plus but Discovery Plus is cheaper.

I decided on Crunchyroll. My daughters love anime. I have to laugh. They have a category labeled "Anime to Show your Mom".

I would love to binge-watch all of the Harry Potter films. The best thing about Harry Potter movies is the food!! The table spread is awesome! It's also one of the reasons I liked watching Korean dramas. They always have great food and tea!

I knows its not your Jam but there are Anime that appeals to Adult women. They don't have violence and sex like most Anime moms hate. Slice of life genre anime are grounded and have no problems as they are meant for relaxing. World Masterpiece theater are adaptation of classic literatures. Studio Ghibli movies are nominated and even won Oscars.

I finally decided to try the 7-Day Free Trial with Viki.com because Netflix does not have enough historical period Korean dramas. I watched a Viki Original Series and enjoyed it. I started on another series and my English subtitles disappeared. That ticked me off! So now I'm ready to cancel!

But I sent in a Support Ticket. If they fix the problem quickly I will keep the subscription for at least one month; through the end of December. (I wasn't planning on keeping it longer than that. I can't really afford it. I just wanted to enjoy some K-dramas for the holidays. :D )

Disney Plus
I just hate that recent cinematic movies are not free.

I would say they are still not too bad. Eternals has not been released three months yet and it's on there for free. Shang-Chi and some other recent ones too.
