The internet is an ever-changing world and 10 years from now, we may never recognize the Internet the way we remember it. I remember there used to be a thing called Online anti-virus. An antivirus you don't need to download. It will check your pc remotely. I miss them because all of them have turned into the software I needed to download. Now if you want an anti-virus you have to download the antivirus. I do have an installed antivirus back then but I loved those online anti-viruses as a second opinion.
Back then when I was younger, You can make an email address with Gmail with your PC alone. Now you will be forced to enter a mobile phone number or else they will block you. I hate that phones became mandatory. I do have a smartphone but I don't need the apps they are forcing me because I prefer the pc version.
Oh, social networks back then also required email only but now having a mobile number is being forced by hook or by crook. Many services force people to have a mobile number. This makes it harder for people who don't want phones. You cannot even be exempted from it anymore. It has become mandatory and they will not leave you alone with notifications until you gave in. My Paypal got held hostage for days because I refused to enter a phone number but I gave in because I have no more choice. Phones have become mandatory. My fear is in the future services will force us to download their mobile apps even though we want to use them on pc.
Forum searching use to be possible with Google. If you want to find posts and discussions in forums and want to read them, that use to be an option but Google removed that. The removal of forum search in Google and other search engines is the reason why many forums have a drop in traffic because lurkers use to see them easily in search engines. A social network post is more likely to appear in a social network post than a forum post. I am a forum owner and I am going to tell you that my money maker is not a member but the lurkers who find the site via google search. I lost 70 percent of the lurkers when the Forum search was removed by Google.
We can filter search results via dates but back then there is an option for the oldest search result. As in search results from the 90s but Many search engines just removed that option. Your time options left are the Last 24 hours, Last week, Last Month, and Last Year being the oldest.
Before you can share Youtube videos that you like on Facebook. Many people used it to promote their channels but now Facebook is competing with Youtube. You cannot link Youtube videos anymore. You have to upload videos directly to Facebook because they have their video monetization program now.
