Videogame face models will be celebrities of the future

Postby Netherrealmer » 29 May 2021, 20:38

I want to make a history lesson of character models because of something historic that just happened. Merle Dandridge who is the face model and voice actress of the main antagonist of The Last of Us game will reprise her role in the movie version.

Right now the videogame industry as a whole is worth $152.1 billion, compare that to $42.2 billion in the movie industry. Character models started because of those 2d games in the 90s that use digitized sprites. 3d games are not a thing then and Ed Boon, the game producer wanted to make a realistic game with the limited technology they had. So he goes to gyms Martial arts schools near their game studios and offered people who caught his eye to model for him. They thought he was weird and creepy but they accepted the gig.

Here is rare footage of how the Mortal Kombat characters are animated:

The male models were asked to shave their armpits because armpit hair looks weird when animated.
Image

Those models took advantage of their 15 minutes of fame and did a National tour around America and made live Martial arts shows for children. It didn't make them big stars but it helps them get gigs as stuntmen and it helps them with their Martial art schools.

During the 3d era of games, the graphics became more realistic. This is when video game companies started hiring motion capture models. When Capcom decided to Remake Resident evil 1, They found a then 15-year-old Canadian Model Julia Voth. They cast her to Play Jill Valentine, A 23-year-old cop who got caught up in a zombie apocalypse. For 10 years they used her likeness to play Jill. This gig helps her book roles for Indie movies. She also gets to star in a Canadian sitcom titled Package deal.

Fans of Resident evil loved her more when she decided to play the games and cosplay Jill Valentine.

Sadly Capcom decided not to renew their contract with Julia Voth. Her likeness becomes too expensive when she becomes a Hollywood actress. So on the remake of Resident Evil 3, They replaced her with 22-year-old Russian model Sasha Zotova. Sasha got a lot of hatred from Julia Voth fans in the beginning but she won the hearts of the fans eventually because she embraced the character too.

Image

Her Instagram account become profitable and she started a gaming channel on Youtube and she monetized it in a month.
---------
Detroit: Becoming Human was the biggest game of 2018. I remember how female gamers talk about how handsome the lead character Connor is.
Image

The internet broke when they found out his voice actor is his face model. His success from playing Connor bagged him roles for more videogames and he became a videogame streamer himself.

---
Polish model Helena Mankowska got a weird modeling gig where instead of having a photographer, A weird machine just captured her face. Little did she knows it will make her the most googled Vampire in the history of Vampires. Money-making Machine. Her likeness was used for the breakout character of the year.... Lady Dimitrescu. A tall Vampire lady who made Capcom hundred millions of dollars.
Image

Image

Her game sold 3 million copies on the first day. A copy is worth $60 times that to 3 Million. A company made one hundred eighty million copies because of her face that is used to make a tall vampire mom of three. Her likeness made more money when a Juice drink is named after her honor:
Image

Vampires hate Garlic but she became an endorser of Domino's Pizza too.
Image

She is more worth than some Hollywood star right now because her likeness is still a Clout magnet. Helena used her new found fame for charity work.

Slowly but surely now that the video game industry is bigger than the movie and music industry, face models of videogame characters will be the celebrities of the future. Video Game Awards have higher ratings than Oscars as years gone by. Movies will be replaced by games eventually.

Can't stop progress. Especially not in the entertainment business. You reminded me that Eva Longoria said she was a Bond girl. No she was never in a James Bond movie. But she was the model for a Bond girl in a video game. My memory is fuzzy and I can't find a link to support what I'm saying on the Internet. I think she was on a TV program that was a tribute to Sean Connery.
(Couldn't find a link. Can you believe it? My memory recall can't be Googled! )

Anyway! Now there is a buzz about her being a Bond girl in a James Bond movie. Nothing confirmed yet.

So she will be the second videogame model to reprise her role on screen if she becomes a bond girl. Motion capture of modern videogames looks like this:

I have heard of these games but I know nothing about gaming. I was not aware that the gaming industry was more than three times bigger than the movie industry.

I can say 20 years from now Videogame face models will be mainstream celebrities. Voice actors too. Stallone and Schwarzenegger just sold their likeness for Mortal Kombat 11. Mainstream actors see that face models of games will be big in the future and they want to be one of the first ones.

Helena Mankowska, the model of Lady Dimitrescu is getting movie offers now.

No reason why they shouldn't be. They work just as hard!

Would you sell your likeness to become a videogame character? You will be compensated as long as they keep using your likeness. Then you can sell your autographs to fans.

Lady Dimitrescu's model just made her first Public appearance and people paid money just to see her in person even if there is a Pandemic.

You need to act in the movie to become to earn money and also become famous, however, you can make money and become famous just by selling your likeness tom a game. I think this concept is fascinating.

I love how many video game developers and publishers incorporate the likenesses of real people into their games, especially in characters with significant roles or iconic appearances

Wow, this is very interesting, we need to tap into this industry as fast as we can so that we can also benefit. The way this article has explained how the gaming industry has evolved and is a gross industry with billions of dollars more than the movie and music industry combined. I now understand why the real characters are being made avatars and working a full-time job of acting just to be in a game and earning more than actors in real life. I should think that Cartoon movies are also going to be grossing more?

Both the gaming and animated movie industries have demonstrated their ability to capture audiences and generate substantial revenue

While face models of video games are getting more popular, I don't see them becoming bigger than movie stars because movies appeal to a wider audience than video games.

Games are more popular than movies now though. More people watched Game awards than Oscars.
