Pop Early Childhood Education During Covid Times

Postby Mika » 19 May 2021, 04:55

As we are battling with the second and third wave of Covid pandemic, and a lot of countries going into lockdown again, you might be worried about your child’s education. If your child is already 3 years old and if you have not been able to send the kid to kindergarten, here are some tips to help you with your kid’s early childhood education.

Creative Teaching Tools

A child will be able to learn better if all senses are evoked. You may not be able to tell your child what exactly is sour, however, if you allow him to lick a lemon, he will never forget what exactly is sour. Therefore, if you want your child to learn in a proper way, you should use creative teaching tools. You need to introduce looks like audio, video, multimedia, Smartphone apps, etc., and evoke your kid's sense to understand things. If you use creative teaching tools, your kid will be interested in learning. Learning does not have to be boring, learning can always be fun if you know how to make it fun.

You can introduce lessons through stories. You can tell animal stories, fables, etc. to impart knowledge. When the lessons are introduced as stories, learning will effective and fun. Not just toddlers and preschoolers, even preteens and teens learn effectively if lessons are introduced as stories.

You must also bring changes in your teaching methods. If you use the same methods and tools, again and again, your kid might get bored, therefore, you need to introduce new methods frequently. You may even have to take them to the real local to help them understand. This will make the learning exciting and fun

Engagement is the Key to Better Learning

If you do not engage your kid in the learning process, he will never learn. Your kid must be interested in the topic. If he is not interested, you need to stop. Introducing early childhood education does not mean your kid starts reading books, listens to the instructions, etc. Your kid will not learn anything until he participates in the discussion.

Participation in the discussion means your kid starts asking questions, begins to answer your questions, etc. Therefore, you need to encourage your kid to engage in the learning process. Ask them questions to test whether they have understood or not? Encourage them to ask you questions in order to see if they are interested in the lesson or not.

You need to use the questions like why, who, when, where, and how to test your kid’s intelligence, you need to encourage your kids to use wh questions to explore the concept for a better understanding.

Feedback is Important

Reward and punishment is a great teaching tool. The reward does not have to be big things, even the words of appreciating will do. When I say punishment, I don’t mean corporal punishment, and I do not mean scolding. Even a slight reprimand will work.

Feedback is a great tool to inspire your kid, stimulate your child. If the child performs well, you can reward him with some positive feedback, if he does not perform better, you can encourage him to try again and do better next time. Immediate feedback will have a positive effect on your kid.

If your kid makes mistake, do not be harsh, instead help him correct his mistake. Do not hesitate to congratulate your kid for his good performance.

Covid has opened up the eyes of many and people are doing things out of their comfort zone. Children actually start learning earlier in life especially the first years of their lives because they are taught gestures like no yes come go and this grow into conversations so it's really not that new but there are definitely people who need to learn about this so well said.

It is not widely accepted in my country as well but I think the pandemic change mentalities and also created opportunities to develop technologies that support homeschooling, so maybe in the future it will be seen as just a different way to attend school.

That's true. I believe education board will take measures to develop a proper course for homeschooling in my home country. Since internet is still very expensive here, online education may not be widely accepted.

Yes, using a teaching tool to demonstrate to a child makes that child to learn faster, and it stays in the retentive memory long time.

Your child needs to learn really fast, other wise he/she will be missing a lot of things. The world is competitive and you need to ready your child to survive.

More parents wanted to homeschooling now because their kids become more well behaved, less rebellious. Grades also improved because teachers cannot do their lazy ways anymore because classes are recorded. Once upon a time there are teachers who don't teach. They just make kids copy notes so they can skip teaching.

Covid-19 has caused the education system to shut down totally and my country's government cannot decide what to do. God really knows what will happen to the education system.

For kids as young as 10 years, online education may not be a viable option. Online learning works only for those kids who are disciplined.

You're right. Any kid who isn't calm and attentive can't learn online. The body will keep on inching him or her, making the child to feel nervous and not ready to learn. Those kind of children are meant to be taught offline with cordial discipline to correct such evil trait of he's or her.

Even for adults online education can be difficult if they cannot grasp instructions if they cannot participate in the discussion, and if they are attentive.

These days you do not need a formal education to become successful or rich, but you need to be exceptionally talented.

My sister's kids also completed their school education while studying online. They always found zoom class to be very boring.

Look at the bright side, You saved more money because no more need to spend cash for allowances. No more need to pay transport services and their grades improved.

At least the transportation fair, allowances, and other extra tuitions are over. The online learning will simply keep them away from spending more.
