by Let's say your tried everything to improve their grades but they are just not good at academics. Just because your kid is bad at academics, it doesn't mean they are dumb. Many people who are bad at academics are discovered to be genius in other kinds of intelligence. I know many parents out there who will nagged their kids until they commit suicide because their grades won't improve. People with bad grades struggles to get into a good university or even find a job. The system we have right now is broken and needs to be fixed. College should not be forced for students who are not meant for it.
Here are things you can do if your kid is bad at academics.
1. Try to check if they have learning disorder. I know a kid who have adhd and his grades are bad even if his parents hired tutors. Little did they know he have ADHD and learning disorder. Many parents these days doesn't care about mental health and thought their nagging and scolding is all what the child needed. The kid should have been enrolled to a special school for people with learning disability or be homeschooled. People with mental disorders have a different way of absorbing information in their brain.Give the child professional help instead of verbally abusing him or her to have better grades. A kid with learning disorder who get the professional help ends up being college graduate geniuses. Teachers from regular school doesn't know how to educate kids with learning disorders.
2. Make them learn sports. Though some Athletes are scholars, Many of them are dropouts! Try to check if your kid have potential in any sport and will find a sport they will love. If they will graduate Highschool with bad grades and will just fail college, the might as well focus on a sport where they will prosper. Manny Pacquiao is an elementary dropout and he is a billionaire in his currency. Naomi Osaka is the highest paid athlete in Japan with a Networth of 30 million. Let your child try different sports and find where they can excel.Let them find a sport that they will like and be good at.
3. Try to find their talent and passion. Can they sing? Play instrument? Paint?dance? 20 years ago wanting to be in performance art is seen as failure by many parents since only 1 percent succeeds in performance arts. You know what? You don't need to be mainstream anymore to make money with performance art. Singers have other ways to make money aside from making it to the mainstream. Hotel Singers and Cruise ship singers have decent salary. Then singers and Musicians can now stream on Twitch and make cash. Painters and visual artist can now make money with Youtube, patreon, Twitch and many online platforms. Indie singers 100% get the earnings of their album sales so they make a decent living now as long as they will be careful with their money. I had seen so many talented people who were blocked by their parents and forced them to go to college and they end up being depressed people living in regret.
4.Teach them skills that can make them money. I have a friend who is a drop out but he just took a vocational course and learn how to do welding. There is a high demand for welders in countries like Australia, Canada, Japan and South Korea. He is able to work abroad and saved all that money and his wife used his earnings to start a business. If you think your kid hates college, let them take a vocational course instead because many of them gives opportunities. Farmers are portrayed on tv as poor people but there are rich farmers out there. This guy is a highschool drop out who learned how to plant red bananas and red bananas made him rich.
If a kid hates college, let them pick a vocational course that can be learned from 6 months to a year.
