Pop How to fight procastination

Postby Netherrealmer » 12 Aug 2020, 18:29

The biggest enemy of success is actually not the failure because failure can trigger passion to be more successful. Failure can the source of motivation to be more competent. It drives you to push yourself beyond your limits.

The biggest enemy of success is procrastination. How can I define this word? Do you remember those people who remained overweight because they kept saying they will diet staring tomorrow every day? How about those students who say they will sleep for 5 more minutes after their alarm clock rings? The 5 minutes becomes an hour so they ended up being late at school.

Procrastination is basically being distracted and lazy. Trying to do something else instead of the task you need to finish. I heard many people who transitioned to work online because of the pandemic got tempted to watch Youtube videos or check their social network timeline in the middle of work.

List down all the things you need to accomplish for the day. every time you accomplish a task mark, this will motivate you to have everything on the list to get marked.
Make your distractions a reward for yourself once you finish all tasks. Entertaining yourself should be a privilege and not a right in the middle of work. If your mission at this moment is to finish an article you are writing, finish the damn article instead of playing mobile games on your phone. Do the games and entertainment after you finish everything. It will feel better if you have entertainment as a reward after a job well done.
Work at the pace you are comfortable with. Some people prefer finishing the harder task first and some people prefer doing the easier ones first. You do you Sugar! As long as you are delivering and you are not distracted.
Free yourself from bodily functions before work. What do I mean? rest, eat, dehydrate, and use the bathroom before work. Those things can cause small distractions and a chain of small distractions can put you to trouble. For sure you can't control when will you need to use the bathroom but if you do it before work, You will do it less.
Think about the negative effects if you let procrastination take over you. I remember in the reality show Survivor, It's gameshow where people are marooned on an island for 39 until one person is left. The laziest person always gets voted off early. If you are too busy doing useless things instead of finishing your project you are putting a big red target on your back.
Focus but do not pressure yourself. Yes, your goal is to finish your task but do not pressure yourself so you won't fail on what you are doing.
Make your work environment as comfortable as possible. Body discomfort is one of the biggest sources of distraction. A messy cubicle will be a distraction to your focus. If you work at home a noisy environment can ruin your concentration. The comfortable you feel with your surroundings the better you will perform.

Procrastination is truly a killer of success. Everyone needs to learn to overcome it.
I like that point about making your distractions your rewards after you are done with everything. It feels better watching a movie after studying than watching a movie instead of studying.

You won't have guilt in the end if you prioritize your studies first over entertainment. You can have all the entertainment you have once you finished your task.

I found the solution to procrastination shortly after I retired. I no longer have tasks, so there is nothing to procrastinate. I have nothing to accomplish and all day to complete it, so life is just one endless journey with nowhere to go and all day to get there.

I'd love to see you expand on that a little more. Reading that sounds almost negative or apathetic, yet you have always been very positive and action orientated in your posts on ForumCoin. Is it that you have found a level of peace and contentment?

I've stopped saying it unless I'm ready to do it. People will get tired of you ranting and end up not doing a thing. So I procrastinate in my head so I bother only myself. I tend to ask myself, why not now, why later? Then I don't have an answer so I go straight to it.

Yes, I fully agree with you that procrastination is the biggest enemy of success. People usually procrastinate because they are afraid of failures.

Procrastination enables ones to remain stagnant in the hope of being prosper in life. I cease this by giving it my frequent thought as if I regret something in life. If I don't do that particular thing, I won't feel alright. My countenance will be as if I'm not OK

Or they feel lazy, that's why we must be well rested so we will be less lazy. Stress and lack of energy makes people lazy.

You wrote amazingly fergus1234, I really enjoyed reading this post. You said accounting for failures can motivate us to fight on and become more successful that's very correct. But being procrastinated can make us lazy, dizzy, and unable to achieve our daily task. When one is able to achieve its daily task it motivates to accomplish more. Thanks once again for sharing this great information here, it has taught me alot.

When you ask yourself the question, ' why later and not now?' That is motivation for you to move on with it. A lot of us are guilty of procrastination. What matters is how we fight it.

I think I don't have a procrastination problem but a focus problem. Sometimes I have so many things to do that it is difficult to be focused in doing only one thing, I try to do everything at the same time. At the end I have nothing finished.

I have to say that procrastination was never a problem for me. But now that I work from home I set "accomplishment goals" and use the entire day to complete them. :D

I am more of a jack of all trades of late and it has become quite overwhelming juggling more than three activities. I wouldn't say I procrastinate, I am normally so busy sometimes it is even hard to commit to one particular thing.

I really don't want to lose my focus this year. Procrastination is such an easy task that we all fall for. I love feeling guilty and ashamed for procrastination especially if the event involves money and I am left where I was broke. I hate missing out on my goals this year since I have so much to accomplish on my journey of earning more. I hate being demotivated hence I workout to stay motivated and meditate on my goals.

You need to find out why the procrastination. Is it that you fear failing? You can then work your way on building activities that are anti procrastination strategies.
