I read many posts and comments about websites and blogs slowing. Many webmasters keep asking why their WordPress sites load slower even on high speed connections. In this post, I am covering something to do with the causes and the possible solutions to the above – website / blog load speed.
We all know that users or web visitors like websites which load faster. This is because they serve contents to readers faster and at the same time help the visitor save both time and money used to buy data which is used to access the internet.
In fact, many people including me will close a site immediately I discover that it loads slower.
Why continue to wait for content to load when I can find other faster loading sites with the same content? If you are a blog or website owner, I am sure you know why getting hits to your site and at the same time having a low bounce rate means.
Let’s leave that alone and focus to the main reason of this post. If you really want to increase your website loading speed, there are certain things you must look into as a must since failing to may not help out to solve the problem.
Things like who you are hosting your website with, the type of hosting you are subscribed to, the content management system you are using and how you optimize you site matters. Yes, they do because they are determinants of your website speed.
Who hosts your site
Many free and cheap hosting service providers will always make your site slow. The reason is that they are over loaded and thus having many sites on their servers. This alone can make a site slow and in this case, changing a host or upgrading to a good plan may be your solution.
The type of hosting
Hosting has different types for example, Windows Hosting, Linux Hosting, Reseller Hosting, Dedicated Server, VPS Hosting, Shared hosting and etc. Personally, I recommend VPS Hosting since it’s What I use. This is well known for its speeds when loading site. If your site is money making, why not upgrade so as to serve your readers better.
Content management system
Did you know that sites which run on WordPress CMS assuming all other above remain constant load faster when compared with other CMS sites? This is your homework, let m know your findings.
How do you optimize your site
Let be honest. Many sites which are poorly optimized will load slow. This ranges from the number of scripts you use, how your images are served and others. If you want to have a fast loading site, it is advisable to have scripts which load after content is loaded. You can see this if you are using adsense ads. Additionally, you can choose to serve your images from a CDN like cloudflare as opposed to your own site. Images served from CDN load faster than those from your own site which can increase the load speed.
