Tips to An Effective Self Discipline

Postby grecy0905 » 07 Oct 2017, 06:44

Before you become motivated, focus and passionate about what you want to achieve, you must develop self-disciplined. I know I already shared lots of tips about getting there but I never thought there are guidelines to do first before you start to test yourself to discipline. These are tips that you should be aware first on the road to self-discipline. Disciplining yourself is quite hard if you do not understand what you are doing. Also, if you think you can't-do it, it will hurt yourself. You must first need to understand what it is before you start doing it. Read below tips and a general guide to Self-Discipline.

Avoid Temptation
If you are achieving self-discipline and you want to be successful with it, do not push yourself to start temptation. For example, you are avoiding donuts. Donuts are full of starch and sugar. Eating more of it will not be good for your health. In case you visit a Dunkin Donuts store and your idea only is to order a coffee, you will be tempted to buy donuts as well because it is in front of you. If you are avoiding to eat donuts then do not surround yourself with it. Do not put yourself in a situation where you will get tempted. The only problem is that you can’t get out of it easily, so you just need to not put yourself in it. Try to buy coffee on a store that you will not see any donuts, around.

Eat Properly and Regularly.
If you are on the road to self-discipline, you must eat regularly and properly. Eating foods, on time and eating healthy foods will be very useful for your focus. If you want to achieve something, provide your body of nutrients that you will get from foods. It will be very useful.

Sometimes, it will not feel right
Yes, if you are into self-discipline movement, you must be aware that every change could hurt you. Change doesn’t always mean good in our life. We can only see the good if we continue to adopt from it. For example, you want to develop a habit of sleeping 9 in the evening. If you are used to sleeping 12 in the midnight, then it will hurt you because of the big adjustment. The only way is to do it. Try to sleep at 9 in the evening. For one night, it might not happen. You might be sleeping at 11 in the evening. For the second night, you could be at a bed and give up to sleep at 10. It might happen on the third night. On the fourth night, if you are strong in believing you can do it, then it will happen again. After a week, for sure it will become a habit and you are totally adjusted. Believe me, it will be hard at first because normally, everything is hard at first but you will be adjusted.

Reward Yourself
Rewarding yourself is the biggest part of disciplining yourself. They call it as a cheat day. However, it doesn’t mean you are breaking a habit. It only means that you could test yourself to do the things you are doing before but you can able to get back to the new you instantly because you really want the new you. If you rewarding yourself for not eating rice for a week during dinner, why not eat rice during the night on weekends? In this way, you can still put starch in your body because you still need it, but it is in a lesser amount. Also, you will develop a good relationship with yourself because you are looking forward to setting up another reward after you done your achievement. This is exciting and makes it more exciting as the days goes on.

Forgive yourself and Move On
We have past plans in our life that we failed to achieve. It is already past so you must forgive yourself for being a failure on that part. You just need to move on. If you had planned to lose weight before and you failed to do it, you can still do it now. You can start another plan, the more effective plan and then do it. You just need to move on from that because it delays the plans and your execution as well.

I agree with this. We should always remind our self about this things. It is not always easy for one to have self discipline, but these practice will reward us many good result for ourselves. It can help us grow and be more mature.

We can train ourselves to do it if we are strong and focus on a certain goal. The feeling is great once you achieve your goal, you just need to be consistent.

I think the habit can be built up after practising it 28 days continuously, this is what I heard from a specialist.

Personally, I think discipline is a choice and not just a trait. People who lack discipline simply do not exercise it.
