Preparing for an Interview (Call Center Agent Edition)

Postby nerdonforumcoin » 02 Sep 2017, 05:57

Business Process Outsourcing has been the primary source of income for most Filipinos. Global businesses outsourced their investments in the Philippines. Many graduate and undergraduate citizens are able to find a job. A job that pays higher than the government employees.

The industry became one of the economic backbones in the Philippines. Giving thousands of Filipinos a work that they can call job.

For the aspiring candidates - there is no easy process to be considered to work in the business. The hiring process for most companies are tedious. Especially the interview. Most says the interviews are dreadful.

I have seen people moving from company to another because of compensation. And yes, competition is quite a scenario nowadays in the Philippines. One company offers good salary packages over the other and others provide good health and medical packages.

Before thinking of all the packages and benefits, candidates must bear in mind that there is a process being laid out before signing a contract. Here are tips that you can consider before going to your first or second or third interview. These tips is not limited to call center aspirants.

Set a Clear Goal

Proper setting of goals is essential before you consider going out of your comfort zone. Set a goal that SMART - that yourself can accomplish. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time bound. Going to the interview is not just presenting yourself from the outside, but also, selling your skills.

Confirm your Attendance

Confirming your schedule is very important. This is evident when an applicant was processed through phone interview. The interviewer will ask commitment if you can go to the office and be interviewed face-to-face. Prior to the scheduled appointment, the recruiter will send a reminder text message. To ensure confirm your attendance, please reply to the text message.

Read the Company's Mission and Vision

To get a better understanding of company's goal and to get involved in conversation. Don't allow yourself to be caught off guard. It is not your obligation as an applicant to know the mission and vision. Going through this section will give you an idea on what to bring on the table.

Review Job Descriptions

All hiring companies post job descriptions and qualifications. Reading through it will help you understand the nature of work and the skills these companies are looking for.

Dress Properly

Dress to impress! But do not overdo it. Try to be casual as possible. Be presentable. Do not wear flipflops - but rather wear appropriate casual shoes. It is important that you present yourself to the hiring manager that you are presentable. This is business and that you are not going to work at home.

Highlight Your Strength

If you are an experienced call center worker, you can share your career advancements. Make sure that you already know how to answer "why did not resign?" Highlight the good things you have experienced in your previous company instead of badmouthing them.

Patience Matters

You may have heard of the one-day processing. Dismiss the fact that you will get results within the day. Know the 24-hour rule and wait patiently. Do not rant on social media. You can make a follow-up by calling the recruiter and ask politely.

You are on your way in getting closer to your next employment. Good luck!

Not only for Filipinos. For many Asians, it is the primary source of income.

It is important to show the interviewer three basic things--that you understand the nature of the position, you can do the job and you can fit in.

Do your research on the position and the company and its competitions Show how your experience, skills, certifications meet the job specifications and can help the company move forward. You might look good on paper but make that paper come alive during the interview.

Talk about PAR (Problem Affect and Resolution) tell him or her about problems you helped solve. How you helped an employer retain a key customer, how you reduced expenses for a certain line of business or increased revenue for a location.
Talk about things that might not be clearly evident on paper such as your leadership abilities.
Speak to projects you worked on individually or as part of a team and the positive impact your efforts had on the organization.
Talk about what is going on in the industry and how the company and its competitors are addressing those things.

I remember PAR when I tried to applied in one Call Center in Makati before. They will give you some situations and they need to know how will you respond to the problem, how you will give solution because for all we know Customer Service agents are the ones who help solve the problem.

All the tips you mentioned are very good one. Confidence is another key to successful interview. Most people lack skills of expression. If you can build or posses the skills then you are good to go.
