5 Steps to Find Your Great Mentor for Free

Postby grecy0905 » 25 Jun 2017, 14:53

In our professional life, even on personal or general life, we always find our mentor. We learned that some great person was guided by a mentor that is why they achieved their goals and make their dreams come true. Everyone needs a mentor. It is a guide in whatever path we want to take. There are specific mentors for a specific aspect of our life and if we have them they will surely support us in what we are dreaming of having in life.

There are mentors that you need to pay a fee in order to start a mentoring service. There are those who have paid podcast that will give you free eBook or online content for a specific month. However, do you know that we could have lots of mentors that are for free? There are just around, we only need to be observant. This article will open your mind and will guide you about it.

You don’t Need to Meet a Mentor to Mentored You
If you could be more observant, ever since you learned about wanting to have a mentor, you already mentored by a lot of mentors. For sure you have been reading lots of self-help books, watch lots of videos about self-development and had been attended different seminars and orientation. Most of them are the mentor you haven’t met. Those stuff we read and watched coming from them are all product of a passion. If it brought us changes, we only need is to continue getting a guide from them. We can have the learning as much as we want.

Don’t Look for Only One, But to Many

It is not wise mentally or emotionally to rely on only one mentor. There are lots of people who have been there and there might be an experience that holds similar, but the opinions and understanding might be different. One might explain it to you passionately than the others. One might be more concern of about you that is why they are sharing it more than the others. It means learning from different points of view.

You can find a Mentor with Colleagues
Do not underestimate the power of looking to your colleagues too. Yes, your mentor is popular and it had helped you a million times, however, you never know that you could be mentored by someone you are going out almost every day. It could be your best friend or your officemates. Every person has its own learning in life and if they could be sharing it with you, you learn and help from both ways.

Be Specific with What You Want to Learn
If you are not specific, you are just wasting your time. The reason why you want to be mentored is that you don’t want to make mistakes and to shorten the step to achieve what you want to achieve. Also with asking a question, be specific. If your question is specific, you might get the right answer and the right help as well.

Be Present in Their Engagement and Learn
How to find a mentor is to be present in their engagement. If they have an online class, be there and put a comment. If they have the seminar, buy tickets and attend to it. If they have a book signing, buy their books and get it sign. You are not there to be not noticed but to learn. Be a devoted fan.

This is some eye opening article sister. I mean I have always thought of my best friend as my greatest mentor because she is the one who is always with me observing and correcting me. But I have to agree with the 2nd point that I have to broaden the view to get a little more different perspective. Thanks for the article. Good luck. :)

Indirectly we are being mentored by lots of people already and we are all applying this without our knowing. My article is for us to realize something about mentoring. Even our parents would be our greatest mentor, our teacher, our friends and even FC friends.

I need this. When people talk about having a personal or business coach, I used to question the need for one. Now that I run my own business as a freelancer, I have discovered many ways you would need someone experienced in your field to mentor you.

Having a mentor is like having a guide. you want to model after someone then you should learn from the person. They person must be an inspiration and try to be close to the person and attend any seminars organized by them
