How to Answer: How to Handle Stress?

Postby grecy0905 » 08 Mar 2017, 18:54

In the office, it is quite normal to feel stress. The overwhelming of work is what makes it stressful plus the different attitude of the people you work with. You also need to satisfy your customer that is why when you meet stress while talking to them, you should work on it not to show it to them. The feeling of stress is normal yet it is not good to everyone. Stress leads to a lot of illness if you will not handle it well. You will always be pressured at work so your employer needs to know how you able to manage it.

Providing a Detailed Story about your Experience
In this type of interview question, you need to share a detailed story about the time you experienced stress. This is not about the stress that you feel. This is all about how you handle the situation and to give them confidence that you can really handle it. Site an example that you were really stressful, a detailed one and how you acted on that stress. This is for them to get the clear picture.

The Answer Should not put Stress in a Negative Side
Be careful in answering this one. Do not tell your employer that you faced stress once and you do not do anything about it. Do not tell that you allow stress to eat you because you are pressured. This is the time for you to analyze what happened in the past and learn to share the story in a manner that you did everything to handle the stress well. This is should be the time that you know you are stress but you able to survive it. You should put stress as an inspiration to success and not ever a hindrance.

Do not focus on the Stress Alone. Make Stress as your Strength
Do not focus on the stress. Stress means being nervous. Stress is a form of weakness to some of us but in a workplace, it should not be. Stress should be the starting point where you change yourself, you adjust to what is happening, act on it and solve the problem. Stress should always be the start of your strength because stress helps you to become a better version of yourself. Stress even makes you take note of the mistakes you did that is why you always remember not to do the same mistakes again. It even helps you to know what kind of people you are working with and how they act to their own stress.

Sample Answer
Meeting deadline is really stressful. Adding to it are the materials you use should come in time. It is a must that everyone around you should cooperate. If one failed to be efficient, your team will collapse. What I did was to organize everything first. I need to know my priorities. I apply time management. I also learned how to delegate the task at hand so I can focus on the job I need to do just to meet the deadlines. I just act on the stress and do not bother to sink because of it.

I think what helped me get my last offline job at the dollar store was keeping eye contact and begin honest. I did share a story about how I handled stress at previous jobs which he seemed to like. Very good tips here. :)

That is a good tips you shared there. Keeping an eye contact means you are really honest and what you are saying is true.

Yeah I use to be terrible with eye contact. But after going to therapy for a lot of sessions I was able to keep on with it. Once I made eye contact with my therapist in time I could do it outside as well. I still have moments where I have trouble with it but not often.

I agree with you. Focusing on stress will increase the amount of stress that you go through. I'd surely consider that point.

Everyone is saying that before at work. They says that focusing on the stress alone will just cause drama, so you act on it and do what's needs to do.

Stress has never been an easy thing to deal with, and the more you dwell on it the worser it becomes, so the best thing is to try and forget about it and focus on something else instead.

They say it is a quick feeling, your response or reflex to a situation. Yes, it only makes worst when you react on the stress and not on the problem. So better focus on the solution to the problem.

Well stated.I think stress should always be seen in the positive if one wants to overcome it.when once one see stress in the negative it becomes over whelming. This is from a waste place of experience. Now I hardly see stress, I move away from it completely.

Very good idea.I think stress would not to be allowed in our life.We should proceed in a way to not give much importance to it,but to focus what is really important in our life. That should be relaxing.

I think one think that we should do is to di nit focus on the things that can stress us because that can cause even more stress. Maybe try to focus on what makes us happy rather than those things that stress us.

me,I am laughing at myself over the things that overwhelms me. If I already feel it, I make a cup of coffee and take a break for 5 minutes. After that, I can start to working again. No problem.
