5 Steps in Coping from A Bad Decision

Postby grecy0905 » 23 Feb 2017, 15:13

One of a terrifying things in life is making a decision. This is because we don’t know which decision would be right for us, for the ones we love and for the situation. Every day we are faced with two paths in life. The right path might be the right one and the left one might be the wrong one. We only know it when we follow one of it. We only know if we already tried it. Sometimes, we are too confident in decisions we make, but there will come a time that a possible decision is the worst that we could ever choose. We always think it is our fault. It is, unfortunately. However, if you start to take responsibility for your decisions and do not feel regrets at all, this only lead to becoming a better person.

Not all decisions we take are accepted, much more if it leads to worst cases. How can we cope with a bad decision? These are the five steps to recover from a bad decision.

Stop the Blaming Mechanism and Be Responsible
When we made a wrong decision, it feels unfair. We know how hard to make a decision about the different situation and it is hard to accept that we had it wrong. It is quite a shame for some of us. Some of us tend to blame other people. Sometimes we became rational and you make a lot of excuses just to turn the table to another person. It is much better to stop the blaming mechanism and take full responsibility for every decision we make. Even if there are a person who you think is to blame, it is your decision after all that started it all.

Analyze what you went wrong and Move On
It is hard to move on. Moving on from bad decision always requires a specific preparation that involves analyzing what went wrong. You need to understand the situation that turns you into a decision and recognized your mistake. You should always learn from every good or bad decision you make. You need to remember it always. Moving on will only happen if you already accepted your faith.

Prepare to Apologize
A bad decision could ruin a relationship. If you know you had hurt someone with your decision and it went wrong, you need to first talk to that person and explain everything. You need to prepare yourself to apologize to what you did wrong. Accept the words that will come out of their mouth. Accept their actions towards what you did. Be humble and honest to gain their trust again.

Focus on a New You
New You means a person who learned from the worst decision they made in their life. It is part of moving on. It is wrong to hold the grudge of the past because it delays everything you need to start now. Accept that you made mistakes and you will always learn from it. Moving forward and be positive that you can do better this time is the best advise everyone could give.

Make a big change
If you made a lot of bad decisions from the past, it means you are aware but you are not changing some attitudes and principles in your life. A person who is learning from their mistakes takes note of what they need to alter about themselves. Try to do something that other people are doing. Try to follow the footsteps of people who become successful. Everyone has a story of failure yet it will not stop you to meet your success in the future because you can. You really can!

I really liked this one Grecy! These are such good points too and stuff I know I don't always do when I should... I have to say there have been times where I made some lousy decisions and just shut myself down from the world instead of dealing with it.

thanks, dear @grecy on all these suggestions. Stop blaming is the main and top priority of all these suggestion, only be responsible, then we able to know and learn from mistakes.
If never be responsible, we always think all the mistakes are by others, not ourselves. And, no learning from there for sure.

Great article @grecy0905, life can sometimes feel like a big game of trial and error, and like everyone I have already made bad choices but what is importante is that from our mistakes or failures, there’s always a lesson to be learned to help us grow.

That is the reason why we have it @nela13 this is also for us to improve and become a better version of ourselves. This is something we can share to our children and grandchildren. Our form of legacy for them and in the world.

As long as one is willing to apologize and admit mistakes, I am sure that we can learn to become better.

It is the truth because it starts from there. If we are not accepting our mistakes how can we change and learn from it. Unfortunately some people do not admit their mistakes because it is a form of weakness to them.

that is also what I knew before. I never thought that there is really a process in order to cope up or to move on from past decision. I never thought that it could be serious, like it could cause a depression too.

And this is also to avoid them for doing the same. This will be their guide in making decision, to not feel it again.
