Most of the side business have the capacity to expand for online. However when you want to have online customers, you want to accept credit card payments. But accepting the credit cards is not easy. So I have compiled some of the options through which you can accept online payments for your side business.

Stripe

This is one of the popular payment gateway. And it can accept the credit card for your business. It can manage both customer and seller fraud issues. They are also very good in terms of percentage for transactions. You may find that they accept debit cards from around the world. Also they process the funds every week. So your side business will quickly get the funds into the bank account. In short, the stripe can be a good option for anyone who wants to accept payment on their website. They are expanding around the world. So check if they are accepting the business from your country.

Braintree Payments

This company is another option when it comes to accepting payments online. Braintree is now acquired by paypal. And they have covered almost every country which is part of paypal's region. The transaction rats are same as paypal as the companies are merged. Also they accept the business of various types. If your business is not on high risk category then they can accpet you in short time. Also they are going to have less documentation. If you are accepting the products online then this can be one more good option. But do note that your country and company documentation needs to be approved by them before you continue.

CitrusPay

This is another payment gateway with gloabal reach. One thing that may come across as odd is that they are going to have the yearly contract fee. So apart from the transaction charges, you are also going to be charged with additional contract fee. Though the charges are there but you can find that they have reach in almost every country out there. So you can reach more international customers. You may want to consider this as an option if you have global shippng of products or service in mind. CitrusPay is really a good option in that case, if you are planning for acceping debit cards, netbanking option.

2Checkout

If your business requires accepting payment from multiple type of payment processor then 2checkout can be one good option. They accept paypal and soon they plan on accepting bitcoin. So this can be a good option for business who want to have more options for their business. You may have to apply through documentation and business registration for getting merchant account. The transaction rates are good and for both consumer and merchant, this can be a known payment platform. You may notice that the processing cost is higher for the 2checkout but that is one option just in case if you don't get account with any other merchant.

Amazon Pay

Amazon has the global reach when it comes to business. Almost every developing country has the Amazon headquarter. And they are expending in almost every continent. So they can be used for your small business reach. If you are selling on amazon then you can use their payment system on the site as well. This way you can easily find buyers that can use the known payment system. Also it increases the amount of trust that people have for the brand. So if you are looking for a payment gateway with global reach then consider checking out Amazon. I am sure you'd find some good buyers who trust their system along the way.

These are some of the good options that you have when you want to accept the credit card.

Paypal also works well. Not sure if the processing fees are higher than the others, but it easy to set up anyway.

For large business, paypal is secondary. And most of the higher margin e commerce sites use other payment gateway. The reason being a single chargeback means paypal is going to block merchant account. so these days people avoid people on their sites.
