Last year, millions of people were involved in road accidents and many of them lost their lives while the lucky ones were either grievously injured or maimed,or they escaped unscathed but with varying degrees of loss, either financial of emotional,Many families list breadwinners, loved ones and even enemies they regret regret not making peace with before their demise.
While it is true that some things like death and accidents can never be forever eradicated,Accidents can be greatly reduced and avoided with these safety tips. Before every journey,it is important to do some routine check-up in your vehicle before embarking on the journey to avoid situations that can easily be averted.these are the things to check in a car before a journey.
Car Tyre
Car tyre blowing out has been the cause of many road accidents, many people purchase sub-standarf car tyres because of financial constraints or simple ignorance because they can't differentiate the quality ones from the substandard ones. It is imperative to check your tires before every journey to see if it is roadworthy and legal to ply the roads.
Car Battery
While a faulty battery can't directly cause an accidents,it can leave a traveller stranded which leads to stress and we all know that stress has a lit of negative effects which includes recklessness and lack of concentration.
Most vehicles that ply the roads now are automatic engines which can't be pushed to start if the batteries gives out in the wrong place.
If your car or battery is new, then this shouldn’t be an issue. A car battery lasts from around four years and above. There’s not really a specific time when they need replacing as it’s dependent on various factors such as quality of the battery, driving habits (frequent short drives can lessen a battery's life and colder climates may shorten a battery's lifespan).
Brake Fluid
This is a very important thing to check before every journey because without a working brake system, the journey can only end badly, frequent brake-fluid top-up is a sure sign that something is wrong, the brake compartment is a sealed system and frequent top-ups is a sign of either a leaking system or degraded brake fluid, before every journey,it is advice able to have a professional take a look at the brake system to make sure it's in peak condition.
Engine Oil
Simply explained,Engine oil is the blood of an engine, without it,the engine can't function, just imagine what would happen if your engine was to suddenly stop working when you are on high speed in a highway and other vehicles on equally high speed are directly behind you, that's a very good recipe to a car pile-up.
After the checks, when on the journey, avoid foods that make you sleepy, avoid overapeeding, better late that LATE and you should always try to avoid night travel as much as possible, take regular breaks from driving and obey all traffic rules and regulations at all times.
